Had an early scan today.
All that could be seen was gestational sac..0.9cm... with yolk...
2 bleeds 0.5cm in size
Prediction is 4 wks 6 days pregnant....am i meant to see the yolk sac that early though? It was just an an abdominal scan not vaginal. Everthing ive read said u wont see the yolk till about 6 or 7 weeks .

@AJL36 try not to worry, you are very early on and not much is seen before 6 weeks. I had an early scan and was told afterwards how the NHS don't advise to have them for this reason. I completely understand why you wanted one, I was the same.
Sit tight & hopefully everything will be fine on your rescan.

I couldn’t see anything but sac at 5w6d.

When went for an early private “viability scan” they still wouldn’t even do it until 7 weeks because it’s so hard to see anything before then, so I wouldn’t worry - it’s still so so early!

I had an early scan at 7 weeks due to previous miscarriages. Scan actually measured me at around 4.5-5 weeks so all I saw was the sac. Can't remember if there was the yolk there or not, I do remember laying there crying thinking that was it but they told me to go back 2 weeks later for another scan. This time as well a yolk there was also a little embryo, but no heartbeat. I also had a haematoma from where the egg had buried in too hard. They told me to go back in 7-10 days later to see if the heartbeat could be detected. I started lightly bleeding 3 days later but wasn't overly worried due to the blood clot and the possibility it was just dispersing plus it was brown blood too. It did over the next couple of days get more heavier and bright red and I text my Best Friend and work colleague to tell her I was also wiping clots out. She sent me straight to the hospital who couldn't do anything because it was during the night and they don't scan but also said I had a kidney infection and gave me antibiotics. Did another pregnancy test when I was there and it was super positive. The Dr said he didn't think anything was wrong with Baby given how strong the test was. They said I could go back the following day for a scan but because I was already booked in on the Monday and my Best Friend was coming with me because my Partner was away working I waited until then. Unfortunately the bleeding was a miscarriage and on the scan (couldn't bring myself to look at the screen this time) it showed what they thought was Baby was lying on top of my cervix. Had to wait 2 more weeks to see if anything changed and if not they would officially say I'd miscarried again. Didn't need to wait a week I ended up in A&E 3 days later in horrendous pain and the scan the following day confirmed the sac had collapsed. It took a further 4 weeks for me to fully pass everything because I am a stubborn cow wanted to avoid a D&c to minimise risks to my fertility and I also wanted to keep the remains to bury in a plant. I did have to admit defeat and take misoprostol though which wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be. One thing I would advice is DONT google scan pics for the weeks you are. I did that and mine looked nothing like them. Some had a clear formation of a Baby and mine just looked like a Little Bean (The name for our 4th loss for this reason) even someone I know said at her 7 week scan you could clearly tell it was a baby by its shape and they gave her the scan. I never got mine which I do regret not asking for now because at least We'd have a memento. That was a bit long sorry
