Can't stop eating burgers

Am I the only one who has a problem with burgers and fries at the mo? I'm 10 weeks and apart from jacket potatoes or patties, this is all I want to eat all the time. Already overweight so can't really afford to be piling on but I feel sick and nothing else will do... 🙈

Do you think it’s possible you are craving red meat because you’re anaemic?

AmazingGreats · 16/02/2020 11:56

Anemia can make you feel sick and crave red meat. Salt is a common pregnancy symptom too, and if you are being sick your electrolytes will be out of balance which will make salt cravings worse. Maybe try and find a healthier alternative? Burgers made from extra lean mince, whole meal bun, homemade chips?

I craved McDonalds burgers with my first pregnancy and just went with it x

maria2bela · 16/02/2020 13:24

I don't think I'm anemic? Well I've never been anemic before....I've gone off chicken so red meat as become my go to

@maria2bela all I could eat in my first trimester was "beige food" nothing else stayed down! I found it got alot better after 16 weeks so I would just eat what the body asks for and hopefully things will level out once you're in the second trimester. I definitely think the first few weeks are the worst

Bby20 · 16/02/2020 15:11

This sounds like me, all I want to eat is beef (burgers the most) and jacket potatoes. Luckily I dont have a mcdonalds near me otherwise I would be visiting very often 😂. I'm 14+4 so wonder how much longer this will go on!

Bby20 · 16/02/2020 15:12

Meant to add, I do have low iron so as people have said above, I believe that is linked to craving red meat.

Moltenpink · 16/02/2020 15:15

Count your self lucky, I only wanted duck & chips from the Chinese in my first pregnancy, cost a bloody fortune! Just enjoy the burgers, they won’t taste as good after Smile

Spam88 · 16/02/2020 15:37

I was all about the pies and cheese.

AmazingGreats · 16/02/2020 16:16

I couldn't bare anything but microwave lasagnes, takeaway pizzas and Nutella sandwiches in my last pregnancy Blush

Herocomplex · 16/02/2020 16:21

Apparently a good hamburger hits all or most of our flavour receptors - sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami.

maceratedstrawberries · 16/02/2020 16:22

Fish and chips followed by French fancies was all I could stomach due to nausea, washed down with gallons of cold orange tango (hubby tried giving me Fanta instead and nearly got a beating for his trouble). After 16 weeks the sickness and cravings disappeared for me, and I was able to expand my diet, so fingers crossed it is the same for you! Smile

PrincessHoneysuckle · 16/02/2020 16:22

I was obsessed with red meat in pregnancy and I wasmt anemic

chemicalsweetness · 16/02/2020 16:24

I’m 10+2 and for the past 3 weeks all I’ve wanted is Big Mac’s. No fries, just the burger. I can’t get enough of them!

Stringervest · 16/02/2020 16:28

I ate red meat every day during the first two trimesters. Terrible for the environment but when not pregnant I eat meat much more sparingly so I decided to give my body what it wants.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 16/02/2020 16:31

I went through this phase for about a month in pregnancy. I once spent a day off researching the best American style diners in my area and when dp came in made him drive me about 30 miles to get a burger Blush

maria2bela · 16/02/2020 17:23

Reading some of your comments has made my day 🤣. Also made me feel not so guilty about getting another burger later 🙈

All I seem to be able to stomach is biscuits and chocolate nothing else is hitting the spot for me at the moment slightly worried I'm doing harm but thinking at least I am eating something. I am 8 weeks today
