How long did your BFP take?

Just a concerned first timer on their 5th cycle of bfn's wondering if I should be worried?

I've had not even a hint of a second line so far and worried I'm doing something wrong!

How long did it take you to get your bfp? X

8 months for me, but medically it's normal for it to take up to 12 months I believe. It is hard not to worry though.

Bibby26 · 16/02/2020 11:00

7 months for me! All previous months I had no sniff of a second line either. When I finally was, the second line was so faint I thought I was going mad, bought a FRER which was much clearer thankfully!

PeterPeterson · 16/02/2020 11:08

12 cycles with my second, with my first I got pregnant whilst using contraception. Honestly it's hard not to have worries but realistically up to a year is normal.

FilthyPout · 16/02/2020 11:18

6 months with DC1
Now 26 weeks pregnant with DC2, it took 2 and half years this time. No medical reason as to why. Tests at 18 months said all was fine.

Bezalelle · 16/02/2020 11:31

Conceived on 7th month of trying.

tallah · 16/02/2020 11:37

Crikey, 5 months isn't long at all. Fingers crossed for you it happens soon :-)

Bookworm83 · 16/02/2020 11:37

2 months for me. Stopped the pill in May last year, had a bleed in June, got pregnant in July.

Currently 33+6 weeks.

I'm 36 years old if that makes any difference.

But they do say to give it a year before you start worrying. X

tallah · 16/02/2020 11:38

Oh and my first one was month 3 and I've been trying for 12 months for my second. Not ideal but I'm remaining positive. Honestly at 5 months you shouldn't have to worry yet

Chefwifelife · 16/02/2020 11:38

10 months first child. 12th month of ttc with my current pregnancy.

userabcname · 16/02/2020 11:43

First month with dc1.
8 months with dc2.

Dyra · 16/02/2020 11:54

2 years from coil removal to my BFP. Found out shortly after a fertility appointment funnily enough. Unfortunately went on to MC, then it was another 11 months (and some help with Clomid) until I got my second BFP, who is now 5 months old.

In the gentlest way, 5 months really isn't that long, even though I imagine it feels like forever. And as PPs have said, it's entirely normal for it to take up to a year. The whole TTC process is awful. I hope it does happen for you soon. Good luck with it all. ❤️

5 months is a drop in the ocean - please don’t worry if nothing before 12 months.

For us, almost 6 years, 2 failed rounds of IVF, and then a natural bfp.

happymummy12345 · 16/02/2020 18:16

4 months. Came off the pill in the July and conceived in the November

AdriannaP · 16/02/2020 18:18

First month with DC, 2 years with second pregnancy (sadly a MC), 8 months and counting...

FingersXssd83 · 16/02/2020 21:20

2 years 7 months, 3 IVF cycles and surgery. We're 12 weeks on Weds. long, tortuous journey but well worth it. Good luck! X

XenaAura · 16/02/2020 21:31

Was on the implant for 6 years, (they only last 3 years so 3 years additional of not being on contraception) but then got it removed and got pregnant a month after. So not sure if that was just luck (also started using a fertility app) or my implant was still releasing small hormones that was stopping me.... who knows! I am 30 years old also. Contraception can really cause havoc though if you have come off it, good luck to you both =)

PixieDustt · 16/02/2020 21:46

First time with DS. I really hope if I get pregnant again it is the same as it was for DS.
