Late second baby

39+6 here and patiently awaiting the birth of no2.

My DD was born at 39+4 but I could feel labour starting at 39+2 really.

Everyone assured me the second baby will be earlier than the first (and also an easier labour but that's another issue!!) And I've now spent a week mentally preparing myself for labour to start. Each morning i wake up with absolutely no symptoms! I'm in disbelief that I am going to make it to 40 weeks

I know every pregnancy is different but just looking for other mum's who've had later second babies. When did you eventually go into labour?!

My first was 12 days late and my second was 13 days late. I'm now 39+5 with number 3. It will be interesting to see when this one comes.

DC1 was 8 days late, DC2 was 7 days late. To my surprise, DC3 was 3 days early! Second and third births much easier. Good luck OP!

39 + 1 with DD1, 39 + 3 with DD2, I spent a few days wandering around thinking ‘oooo, I’ve never been this pregnant before’. Was weird!

I had DC1 at 39+2 so confidently expected that DC2 would arrive at a similar time. But no, he kept me hanging on until five days after my due date. I was going mad, I don't know how women who go two weeks overdue cope with the waiting. DC3 obliged by coming at 39+2 as well, which was great.

Incidentally, DC2 is still always late for everything

I was 8 days overdue with my first, and almost 11 days over with the second. Second labour was much much quicker though thank god!

My first was 38+6 second 40+2!

My waters went at 40+1 with DC1 and DC2 had to be induced at 40+12! I was literally going crazy for the last 2 weeks, drove me crackers! I was also terrified of being induced having heard horror stories from friends but DC2's birth was much quicker and more straightforward - just needed a bit of encouragement to get going! Good luck and try not to drive yourself mad (much easier said than done).

I've had three.

DS1 - 39+5
DD1 - 40+2
DD2 - 41+2

But I don't believe they were right with DD2 due date and I believe she was 40+3

With dc1, I went into labour at 4 days over and gave birth on day 5. With dc3, I gave birth 6 days overdue. Second labour was far quicker and far less painful.

Thanks everyone! So I guess it's not the rule that no2 is always earlier!
DD1 has just vomited on the floor and has a temp of 38.4 so now I'm actually wanting baby to stay inside for a few more days!! Could really do without labour tonight...
