Hi! I found out on Monday that I'm 5 weeks pregnant, I'm over the moon but so worried. I've had light bleeding on and off but only really when I wipe after going to the toilet. It seems to be happening more in the mornings rather than any other time of day, I've also had some cramps, can anyone reassure me? I don't have my first midwife appointment until the 9th of March and it feels so far away...

Thank you in advance!!

I bled throughout my first pregnancy including a couple of really heavy, red bleeds. My daughter was born fit and healthy a week overdue. I would try and get an early scan for some reassurance. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant with number 3 and had some brown spotting on the day period was due. I wish you luck with your pregnancy, hope all goes well.

Hi OP, congratulations! I'm a sonographer and work in obstetrics including early pregnancy. It's very common for women to bleed during early pregnancy os things implant and move about. In fact some women bleed throughout their whole pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies.
If you have any severe pain or the bleeding becomes red and heavy/clots please call your midwife or local EPAU. They will book you in to see and nurse and have a scan. It's likely at 5 weeks a heartbeat wouldn't be seen yet so you would be asked to come back in 7-10 days for another scan.
