Hi all has anyone had a local anaesthetic when pregnant? I'm 17 weeks now and need to have a sebaceous cyst removed on my back as it keeps getting infected and I've had two lots of antibiotics so need it gone.

Having it done on Tuesday under local and really nervous for baby they say it's safe but 🤷‍♀️ has just wondered if anyone had experienced this and could put my mind at rest a little bit??

Thank you x

Me! I had local anaesthetic to remove a benign growth on my upper torso when I was 14 weeks pregnant. Had 2 scans since then (20 week scan and growth scan), I'm now 30 weeks and baby is all good Smile dont worry, they wouldnt do it if it wasnt safe!

Yes I had to have local anaesthetic. It's a bit embarrassing but for some reason the doctor needed to take arterial blood from my wrist while I was about 32 wks pregnant and because I was blubbing like a baby because it hurt so much, the senior doctor came and gave me local anaesthetic. She said it's perfectly safe in pregnancy and isn't carried away in your blood stream.

Yes, it’s fine. It’s injected just under the skin, not into the bloodstream.
