I recently became unemployed and have just been offered a new job

I am 14+5 and I have a 3 month probation period which takes me over when I legally have to tell my employer I'm pregnant

Can they dismiss me when I tell them due to being on probation?

Really worrying Confused

Hiya,
Im sure it counts as an unfair dismissal if they dismis you due to being pregnant. They would need genuine reasons if they wished to dismiss you at the end of your probation period

They can’t officially let you go due to pregnancy because it would be maternity discrimination, but that doesn’t mean of course that they couldn’t use a different excuse. You do have to tell them though because you’ll need an SMP1 form from them to claim maternity allowance. I’d give ACAS or Pregnant Then Screwed a call as they are great for answering questions about this subject. It’s really likely they will be absolutely fine about it! But worth getting a bit of advice first to cover yourself in case your employer does decide to play up.
