Bleeding after BM at 6 weeks

Hi. This is my first post and first pregnancy.(6 weeks today)
Last night I emptied my bowels and I strained a little bit, afterwards there was bright red blood on the paper when I wiped my front (it definitely came out my vagina!)

No bleeding afterwards. Though this morning I had old blood come out , which I assume was just last night’s blood making its way out?
Had another BM this morning which was a bit easier but still had red when I wiped and also in the bowl. Then nothing since that.

Ive read a few threads on here that it could be straining causing the cervix to become irritated and is quite common.

How would I even contact my EPU if I had to though? My hospital would be Royal Berkshire. (Totally clueless)

Thanks in advance

I've had this in each of my pregnancies. I believe it's called a friable cervix. Basically your cervix can become overly sensitive (and more so if you've ever had any procedures done on your cervix like LLETZ, which it is in my case). If you're suffering from constipation and having to strain, the BM irritates your cervix and causes a bit of bleeding. Nothing to worry about if it's only happened after BM and stopped. But if you're at all worried, just ring your EPU for reassurance

Thanks for the reply. I also have had a procedure on my cervix 2 years ago (cauterization) as I had erosion due to being on the pill for so long. So I guess it is just irritated easily.

Hiya, I had exactly this on Tuesday! I'm 8 weeks and panicked. I rang mat unit, they said that they didnt seem overly concerned about me but still asked me to come for a scan. We saw baby and the little heart beat and they couldn't see any reason for the bleed. She said that its sensitive cervix and sometimes things can irritate it.

I have been consciously drinking lots of water which has helped soften things up and I've had easier bm since then. If in doubt have a look on the website of your local hospital for the maternitt unit number. There should be a maternity helpline number. They are lovely and just ask questions about your history etc then advise from there xx
