Abdominal wall not closed at 11+4?

I've had my 12 week scan today, they measured the baby at 11+4 (which matches my ovulation date). The lady said that the baby's abdominal wall (where the umbilical cord goes in) isn't fully closed yet so they have me come back in 2 weeks time. Has anyone had anything like this and can share their experience? I'm trying not to worry as they say it should be closed at 12 weeks but it's easier said than done.. thanks.

My niece was born with this... gastroschisis. My sister also found out at the 12 weeks scan. She was kept a close eye on throughout. She was due to have a normal delivery but ended up with an emergency section (unrelated). My niece had an operation within her first 12 hours (less that that I think) as her intestines and bowel were outside her body. Op went well. She had 2 weeks in hospital after, first week in NICU/SCBU and then discharged. I believe she was monitored for about 3 years (just yearly appointments/scan) but has had no issues since. She has a ‘fake’ bellybutton with a 1.5 inch scar next to it, but that’s it. She is 12 now.
It’s obviously a worrying time, but if this was the treatment 12 years ago chances are it’s easier/slicker now.
Try not to worry before your next scan, easier said than done I’m sure xx
