Sleeping third trimester

I’m 36 weeks (first pregnancy) and I’m sleeping on my side which hasn’t been a problem for most of pregnancy but the last few weeks when I wake up in the morning (and multiple times in the night) the sides of my belly are sore and uncomfortable and baby doesn’t become active for a couple of hours. Is this normal for anyone else?

I’m nearly 30 weeks now and have always slept on my side even pre-pregnancy so that wasn’t ever an issue for me; but have started noticing the side of my bump aches after a while on whichever side I lay the side next to the bed aches. I’ve just bought a small pregnancy wedge pillow cheap from tkmaxx that’s designed to help support bump - i don’t get on with the big pregnancy pillows and a normal pillow isn’t the right shape to support bump how I think I need but when I saw this i thought it might help. I’ll let you know how I get on with it!

I'm 34+5 and that happens to me too... it feels quite sore when I go to get up during the night and in the morning. Also baby is not as active in the mornings as he used to be couple weeks ago.

34 weeks here with DC2 and feeling exactly the same. Usually sleep on sides and back but having to sleep just on my side it uncomfortable. My belly feels like it’s pulling even with a pillow for support, last few nights my hips and been so painful when waking up..... combine this with the restless legs for around 2 hours every evening and then waking up with leg cramps 2/3 times a night and you can imagine the bags under my eyes Confused. Do you find baby does suddenly become active once you have a drink in the morning?

35 weeks & I’m not sure I really sleep anymore 😫 I wake up in so much pain on one side, roll over, nod back off, wake up in pain on the other side & repeat! My bump hurts, my ribs hurt, my back aches.. frustratingly, I’m most comfy on back! But that’s a no go!

That said, lack of movement should always ring alarm bells. If it’s the same every morning, then it’s probably just your babies normal pattern & they are asleep as you have been. My little one clearly sleeps in a morning as she’s quiet until I’m up & moving around. But if this is new & baby used to be very active in the morning, then that’s more worrying & you should get checked!
