So anxious there’s something wrong in there!

I’m 28 weeks pregnant and am feeling so anxious about everything. My baby’s movements are so random and not especially regular - there’s no obvious pattern. The midwife said the baby should respond when I touch or prod my bump, but I don’t think mine does?

The last scan I had was nine weeks ago and everything looked fine. The midwife also listened to the baby’s heartbeat yesterday and said it sounded good and strong.

I think I’m just worried about the movement thing and the fact that I haven’t seen the baby for nine weeks. My next scan isn’t until 36 weeks.

Also my diet hasn’t been great throughout this pregnancy - I probably only get three of my five a day on average and have been snacking on fruit but also chocolate. I also haven’t been taking any pregnancy multivitamins.

Feeling so anxious and guilty Sad

Op book a private scan? We had a 4d scan at 27 weeks it was lovely. I'm sure everything's fine but will set your mind at ease. I would get some vitamins too you can get them at the supermarket

Thanks Jess - I would love to get another scan but money is really tight at the moment! 36 weeks seems so long to wait though...

My lo's movements were very random and he would not respond to a prod of the bump either. Why are you not taking multivitamins? Does your midwife know? If it's due to cost I'm sure they could sort you some on prescription for free.

Not sure really about the multivitamins - I've just kind of fallen out of the habit. I must start taking them again.

FWIW, I felt no movement other than VERY slight flutters in late pregnancy. My babies slept for 9 months it seems.

My friend had very little movement and it was due to babies position and an anterior placenta. She was in and out of hospital all the time getting checked as she just didn't feel anything. It was awful and stressful but in the end, her baby was fine. If you're worried, pop up to maternity assessment. That's what they are there for! Also if you're worrying about not taking multivitamins, the easiest thing to do is just take them? Don't sit worrying about something you actually can fix. I wouldn't worry too much about your diet either. I lived on peanut butter on toast because I went off everything. Your baby takes what it needs from you and if you're feeling well, and your bump is growing, there should be no cause for concern.

Thanks @jomalone for the advice. I think my anxiety’s just been taking over a bit! I started taking the vitamins again this morning. I do feel daily movement but am just worried there should be more of it and some sort of pattern as well? I did mention to the midwife though and she thought it sounded fine.

Go in and say you're worried about movements theqy will monitor heartbeat and movements and then you'll feel better

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 11/02/2020 14:27

Definitely call your midwife and they'll check with a doppler just to give you peace of mind :)

Have you tried drinking a cold glass of water / fizzy drink / chocolate and then laying on your left side and monitoring movements?

I wouldn't worry about the multivitamins - I don't take any, because I have hyperemesis and can't keep them down so it's pointless. I also eat whatever I can stomach at the time, I had 2 chocolate bars yesterday and they were the only things I managed to keep down. Typical 😂 and haven't been able to drink anything apart from occasional water and full sugar pepsi since December. So i'd say i'm definitely the worlds worst pregnant woman 😂
