All Biblical names have an Islamic equivalent, but my fave is Issa (Jesus).

EssentialHummus · 10/02/2020 23:08

Adam for me.

frazzledasarock · 10/02/2020 23:10

Won’t your son and DIL come up with a name they like themselves?

BrioLover · 10/02/2020 23:12

What names do your DIL and son like? Surely they should choose?

Bezalelle · 11/02/2020 05:24

Let the parents choose.

sashh · 11/02/2020 05:41

Why are you picking names?

Adam always works.
Samilk shortens to Sam
Isa is the Arabic for Jesus so works for both.

Marinetta · 11/02/2020 05:48

We were in the same situation and chose Adam. Everyone seemes happy with it.

Annafs · 11/02/2020 16:22

Agree with those saying surely your DIL and son should decide, unless they have specifically asked you for name suggestions?

Any Biblical name will likely have an Islamic Prophetic version as a large portion of the beliefs and stories are the same. i.e Noah (Nuh), Jesus (Isa), Elias (Elyas), Abraham (Ibrahim), Ishmael (Ismail), Isaac (Ishaq) etc. Lots of options!

Bookworm83 · 11/02/2020 19:37

There's always the option of picking a non-religious name that will be neutral and won't upset anyone.

frazzledasarock · 11/02/2020 19:53

Again that would be down to the parents of the baby. They may want to name him Muhammed and OP has absolutely no say in the matter whatsoever, she named her dc already.

MrsA2015 · 11/02/2020 21:19

Biblical names mostly tend to work, or look up names of the prophets.

Adam
Isaac
Noah
Samir/Sam
Zachariah/zac
Michael / mikaeel (Angel)

Loads to choose from but those are my favourite.

DH is Muslim and called Adam and I’d love to use isaac if we were to have a son.

3rdchristmaslucky · 12/02/2020 06:21

My son is part Palestinian, part British.
I opted for Adam.
First man, present in every version of the book.
It's a safe choice.
