Really anxious about birth

I've been to a hypnobirth course and loved it.
I'm an active person and go gym so the aches don't bother me. However the thought of birth, waters breaking , how long will I be in Constant pain freaks me out

Has anyone had the same fear and turns out it wasn't as bad as they thought?

Looking for positive stories x

Have you been practicing your hypnobirthing since the course? I think you really need to practice the relaxation techniques on a daily basis so that you can draw on them during labour.

I was induced on the drip which meant that by about 6cm my contractions were quite intense. I think had I not done hypnobirthing I would have panicked, but I was able to stay calm and breathe through it for a while and consider my options. At that point I decided that it was right for me to have an epidural.

Have a think in advance about what pain relief you would consider, then if you need it you can ask for it confidently. In most cases, especially first time mums, it all happens pretty gradually and the intensity of the contractions builds over many hours so I’d suggest just seeing how you get on; if it gets to the point that you are struggling and want some pain relief, ask for it. But you might be pleasantly surprised and find that you can manage without it.

I was petrified of giving birth to the point I ended up going to therapy as the fear consumed me.

First birth was a breeze. I did hypnobirthing and breathed through it and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought.

Second birth was much more painful but I wasn't anxious and even though it hurt, it wasn't scary.
I just asked for an epidural and then watched Netflix on my phone until it was time to push lol.

There are so many pain relief options available from breath control, water births to drugs. You'll be fine 😊 xxx
