Hey Mommas,

How is everyone doing, I'm due late July, finally able to start enjoying my pregnancy after getting knocked about in the first trimester. I was being ill quite regularly, combined with the nausea, to the point where I've lost weight instead of gained.
Symptoms finally easing enough that I can start enjoying my food again. I worked out that diary is a no-no for me. Every time I had cheese or any diary products, I could feel it sit heavy on my tummy, guaranteed to throw up that evening or early morning, still avoiding now.
I'm still not showing though, which I don't mind, means it is easier to carry on as normal, though a part of me is waiting to show off a bump.
How is everyone else getting on? Any one in the same boat or an entirely different one?

Hi, I'm 15+5 today, just had my 16 week midwife appointment. I'm still feeling nauseous quite a lot, and feeling a lot more tired than usual, although the tiredness is easing ever so slightly (not today though). Really hoping that will pass, so I don't keep feeling like my evenings after work are basically wasted :/

Nelbert19 · 11/02/2020 20:49

I’m 16+2 and am finally starting to feel vaguely human after first trimester hyperemesis. Still absolutely knackered though!

My bump popped last week, so that’s exciting!

pottypotamus · 11/02/2020 21:22

Hello 👋🏼
I'm 16+5 and trying very hard every evening to see if I can feel any flutters/twinges/bubbles. But Nada so far. It's my third so was hoping to feel something by now. Have you ladies felt any movement yet?

I had my 16wk appt last week. Next appt is 28wk which feels ages away! Just over 3 weeks until 20wk scan though!! 😃😃

Toni464356 · 11/02/2020 22:51

Hello!

16w + 4 and really want to show off a bump!!! At the moment have a jelly like tummy 😂😳

Feels like forever between appointments, nausea has gotten better but not away completely and midwife said at 16 wk appt that it would most likely stay with me right through if I was still
Getting it! Not as tired though as I was 1st trimester!

Anyone getting a gender scan?

pottypotamus · 12/02/2020 09:00

Haha @Toni464356 I have a jelly belly too! I just look fatter not pregnant!

I'm still getting nausea, I got this in my second pregnancy as well up till about 20 weeks.

We found out the sex for my first two and have a boy and a girl. So really want this one to be a surprise at birth. My DH doesn't agree, says he needs to mentally prepare! Hmm

Rhiandrath · 12/02/2020 10:02

Hi! 17 weeks exactly here, due end of July!
Definitely felt a bit better the past few days, heard baby's heartbeat last week and eagerly waiting for my scan date to come through. Have had a grim few months until now, constant nausea and migraines! Easing off a bit now, although still there a bit!
xx

WeeScottishWife · 12/02/2020 19:41

Oh dear, nausea throughout if you're still feeling it at 16 weeks doesn't bode well for me! Haha, oh well.

My 16 week apt was booked before we knew a more accurate due date, so it was actually slightly early (15+5) and 20 week scan won't be until 20+5, so I've still got about 5 weeks to wait, me & husband are so excited about it though! We're definitely wanting to find out the gender then, if we can. If baby is facing the wrong way, though, I don't think I'm too fussed about waiting till later or until the birth to find out. My husband, I think, might want to pay for a private scan just to find out though if we can get a good price for one - he earns a good bit more than me so has more 'pocket money' & if that's what he wants to spend it on that's fine by me Smile

Purringporcupine · 13/02/2020 08:15

Hi, I’m 16+5 today and was starting to feel more human.... nausea and vomiting have largely stopped and I feel like I have more energy! However I had to go to hospital on Tuesday as was getting really sever abdo pain, turns out I have a UTI - which has completely wiped me out this week!
I think I’m just starting to show (2nd baby), but then sometimes it just looks like a jelly belly!

thethirdbar · 13/02/2020 12:31

i'm 16+4 today - due on 26th july, but as it's twins (!) i'll likely go earlier.

i had my 16w appt on tuesday and it was boring! though i'm glad my wee and blood pressure are all good, she didn't listen for heartbeats which i was hoping for - i don't have another appointment until 11th march now when we have our scan - i'm definitely planning on finding out what flavour babies we're having!

i have just about started to show this week - i was worried i wouldn't at all for ages because i have a high BMI and all my weight is in my belly, but there's a noticeable change this week, i guess because there's 2 in there!

i am still pretty miserable though - i wasn't sick on tuesday and thought maybe life was going to improve, but i was back to vomit-central yesterday and today - i am sick without fail when i get out of bed, and then get very retchy/nauseous if i don't eat regularly. i am a little less tired although i'm not sleeping great, and worryingly i am starting to get quite a bit of aches / pains when walking which i am a bit concerned about at this early stage. i'm also resorting to drinking prune juice - i'll let you figure out what issue i'm hoping that will help with ha.

overall though i'm starting to feel a bit more excited whereas i did spend a good couple of months not feeling excited at all after finding out it is twins. i have been researching reusable nappies which is making my head spin - anyone else thinking of going reusable ?

Purringporcupine · 16/02/2020 08:29

@thethirdbar - I really want to try reusable nappies and have done a lot of research. There’s quite a few groups on Facebook and there’s a website called the nappy lady who will give you recommendations.
My only problem is my DH really doesn’t want to try them. We already use reusable wipes for my LB and he’ll use them but he won’t wash them or anything, as turns his nose up!
I also don’t know if nursery would use them, and the baby will be going there from about 10/11 months.
I can imagine reusable would in the long run be a lot more cost effective for you with twins, but I guess it also means double the washing!

thethirdbar · 16/02/2020 09:59

@Purringporcupine yes I'm on all the Facebook groups - my feed is currently about 90% nappies ha ha! That's a shame your DH isn't on board - mine is all for it fortunately. I'm actually planning on going back to work after 4 mths and he'll be taking the rest of the leave so he'll be with them for longer than me - he's got to get on board lol. I'm surprised yours even turns his nose up at washing the wipes though... You just chuck them in the washer right, it's not that bad?!

Re: nursery, I figure we'll tackle that bridge when we come to it, but I think more nurseries are on board with cloth these days or will at least be willing to go with it hopefully! Something to be sure to discuss right when you're visiting nurseries though.

17 weeks today! Eek.

Soph95 · 16/02/2020 19:45

Yeahhh we had a gender scan, and found out we are having a little girl! Got fantastic scan photos of her sucking her thumb.
I have absolutely no bump and got asked by a nurse if I was ‘healthy’ which upset me quite a bit. The midwives have no issue with my size. Everyone is different. But to be asked that by a nurse was quite unsettling.

Nelbert19 · 16/02/2020 20:18

What do you think they meant by that @soph95? I thought it was pretty normal not to be showing at 17 weeks, especially if it’s your first?

@Purringporcupine I want to use reusable nappies too! The Nappy Lady website was so useful, it’s a lot to get your head around at first. My husband is also resistant because he’s quite squeamish, but he’ll get over it after the first dozen nappies I’m sure!

Nelbert19 · 16/02/2020 20:19

Oh also, I felt baby move for the first time this morning! So exciting!!

Purringporcupine · 16/02/2020 20:24

@Soph95 where was the nurse? I think that’s actually pretty rude and potentially damaging to your mental health. I’m a Nurse and would never dream of asking or saying something like that... I have no expertise in that area at all, so am completely unqualified to comment on women’s size! Plus we all come in different shapes and sizes! If the midwifes haven’t said anything to you I’m sure you have nothing to worry about!

@Nelbert19 yeah it’s a bit of a minefield isn’t it? Maybe I’ll just buy the nappies and make him get used to them! So exciting that you felt baby! This is my 2nd and still haven’t felt it... can’t wait for it to happen Smile

Purringporcupine · 16/02/2020 20:29

@Soph95 are you sure she was asking it in relation to your bump?

Soph95 · 16/02/2020 22:08

@Purringporcupine Yeah. She was a nurse in A&E, I was there with my mother in law who was telling the nurses I was pregnant. This particular nurse asked how far along I was. I said 17 weeks on Tuesday and she looked me up and down. Said ‘But how come you aren’t showing, that’s nearly 4 months. Are you healthy?’
My first baby, and I’m small in height and weight anyway so I just assumed it was normal. But it did upset me.

I'm 16 weeks exactly and everyday around 3pm feel exhausted and like I need a nap, I don't know if this is a common thing or what but it's affecting work for me and I feel like if this continues I won't be working up until 2 weeks before my due date like I planned! I have a hard pouch under belly button but with me being quite thin and small I think it's showing quite early on me, my friend is 24 weeks pregnant and I look further gone than her! Everyone is different! Today I bought occarro pram (very prepared) Dw leaving in shop and taking to mothers a week before due date! Find out gender in 2 days so excited !! :)
