39 weeks and period pains on and off for 3 days?

I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant with my first ( so zero experience of pregnancy and labour!) and for the last few days I've been getting the odd period pains lasting from anywhere between 10 seconds and a few minutes.

Could this be the very start of labour at a very slow pace or just wishful thinking?

What were your first signs of labour and how long did the very first phase last?

Period pains were a sign labour was imminent with all three, I can't remember for how long before, a few days perhaps. Of course everyone is different though so I don't want to give you false hope! The other signs for me were waking in the night feeling restless and nausea that felt like morning sickness again. This all happened less than a week before I went in to full blown labour.

Good luck!

I'm 40 weeks today and have been getting on and off period style cramps for a good few weeks now.

I've also been up in the night a few times with painless tightenings, nausea and needing the loo.

Like you, it's my first and I'm hoping it's a positive sign things are underway!
