Is my girlfriend pregnant (implantation blessing?)

Hi everyone, I’m not sure if I’m even posting this in the right section of the forum so apologies if not.
We’ve been reading over the forums for a while now, well since we’ve been trying to conceive..

I was wondering if anyone could give us some feedback, my gf is convinced she’s now infertile, she’s 21 (I’m 24) she already has a 5 year old and has also been pregnant 3 other times, (2 abortions 1 miscarriage) the last pregnancy she had was 2018 when she had a suction abortion, and now she is convinced she’s infertile as she’s had a lot of abortions and miscarried, and the fact that we’ve been trying for 3 months now is making me also think there might be a problem..
I know age is on our side as we’re both still young but it’s just scary to think she might not be capable of falling pregnant again, maybe something went wrong on the last abortion?

Although this month I’m a little more hopeful, she’s currently on cycle day 25 and around 11 dpo, she done a CB test last night and it was negative although it was probably too early to test.. but the reason I’m hopeful are the symptoms she’s had this month which are:
Craving milk everyday, I mean drinking over 2 litres a day since around 4dpo
A bloated stomach which feels hard at 9dpo
Lack of sore boobs when they’re normally very sore by now
Thrush ever since 8dpo
And the big one is bleeding at 9dpo, it was only a little bit of blood in her underwear so it probably only lasted an hour or 2, could this be implantation bleeding? Do any of you think she could be pregnant?

The only way to tell is to take a pregnancy test, but since you took one too early I would wait u til the day of her missed period as testing too early will create even more anxiety and drive you both insane. The symptoms sound hopeful but could also be PMS symptoms. I don’t think abortions make you infertile though so if she isn’t pregnant yet, I doubt it will be because of that. Good luck x

Thanks @catlover10
I didnt think light bleeding for an hour or 2 1 week before a period could be PMS symptoms?

eurochick · 10/02/2020 12:13

Were you the father of her previous pregnancies? If not, as she has apparently got pregnant quickly before, there could be an issue with you. Or there could be no issue at all as it has only been three months.

It can take a normal healthy couple 12 cycles to fall pregnant. There is no reason to think there is anything wrong at the moment but if she still isn't pregnant after 12 cycles then a gp may be able to help.
Abortions are actually very safe in the uk and its extremely rare for there to be complications that cause infertility.
I'd recommend not testing until her period is missed as it just causes heartache.
I'm sorry you are both stressed about this but these things take time trust me. I've had a premature baby, 2 miscarriages and I'm now pregnant, but I'm likely to have this baby early as I'm high risk so I understand the worry

Beau2020x · 10/02/2020 12:32

Wow! You are one 'in tune' partner!!

Trust me, 3 months trying is not a sign of infertility nor is it a long time at all. Neither is having an abortion. The only way an abortion would effect her fertility was if it caused damage or infection and she had scarring. She would probably already be aware of this if this was the case. She also wouldn't get cravings linked to pregnancy at 4dpo. She wouldn't even be pregnant at this point so it cannot be a symptom.

Maybe wait and test again.

Matt9459 · 10/02/2020 12:43

Thanks @beau2020x
What about the light bleeding I mentioned 1 week before her period that only lasted an hour or 2? After reading a lot online it seems that it’s implantation bleeding?

Beau2020x · 10/02/2020 12:48

@Matt9459 it could well be implantation bleeding although this is very rare. Maybe hold out until she ha passed her missed period and test again. Good luck!

Catlover10 · 10/02/2020 12:51

Some people just bleed/spot randomly in the monthly cycle with no apparent cause so can’t be definitely down to implantation, but it could be. I can see how keen you are for her to be pregnant but honestly do you and her a favour and not test until the actual day, you’ll both cause yourself a lot of upset if not!!

sel2223 · 10/02/2020 18:59

As PP have already said, 3 months really isn't any time at all. According to the web, most couples your age group will get pregnant between 3 and 6 months of trying, with the vast majority falling pregnant within the first year.
If it doesn't happen in a year, that's the time to seek some outside help.

Was your gf on birth control prior to TTC? As that can take months to get out of your system for a start.

Good luck

@beau2020x interesting username 🤔

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 10/02/2020 19:16

3 months is not long enough to be worried about infertility.

I had my DD at 19 with my DH (wasn’t planned and was on the pill) and it still took 13 cycles to conceive my current pregnancy (🤞it sticks).

My DH would have no clue what my ‘symptoms’ were at 4dpo.

XenaAura · 10/02/2020 20:05

I wouldn't worry too much yet =) I know you're both really impatient to find out but just wait a little longer to take a test as thats the only real way you will know =p
I understand what you're going through though, I had several abortions in my late teens/early 20s with a few miscarriages and even after complications with my last abortion (bleeding for 5 months, and went for a scan where they told me my chance of conceiving is real low) I am now 37 weeks pregnant with my firstborn =)

So just wait a little, try and relax. I know past "situations" down there can cause worry but the body is an amazing thing and im sure things will be fine for you both!
Oh as as @sel2223 asked, was she on contraception beforehand?
I let my implant run to 6 years (even though they only work for sure for 3 years) and it took just over a month after it was removed for me to fall pregnant. So hormones can take a while to get out, I was getting worried about the being infertile thing also, as I was sure an implant cant last that long past "use by date" >

Beau2020x · 11/02/2020 08:32

@Beau2020x how weird! haha

Beau2020x · 11/02/2020 08:32
