Job security in pregnancy

I'm so anxious about my job security with this pregnancy. I was off for 1 day a couple of weeks ago due to a suspected miscarriage. I've been working from home more due to exhaustion and sickness and now I have a doctors appointment on Monday for an excruciating pain in my butt check. I got stuck in the car and my partner had to lift me out Sad. I'm so worried that ill get signed off and that I'll really piss my employer off and inevitably lose my job. How do you keep a good balance between health and keeping your boss happy? I work in a team who is under a lot of pressure to deliver so my situation is not welcomed.

Pretty sure you can't get fired for pregnancy related illnesses etc. That's unfair dismissal.

Hi, illness related to pregnancy is protected and does not count towards your absence record for the purposes of your employer trying to manage to manage sickness absence i.e. they will keep a record that you were sick but does not count say if are only allowed 5 days sickness in a certain about of time before they start managing you out. Pregnancy is very protected under employment law so this shouldn't be a concern for you. (I work in HR :) )

In terms of keeping your employer happy and maintaining a good relationship, I think just always be honest and open in how you are feeling and what you need.

The situation may not be welcome for them but it happens all the time and they will have to deal with it!

@Lunafloves you can't get sacked for pregnancy related illness/sickness, @erised is right so I wouldn't worry about it. Your employer cannot disadvantage you or give you a warning of any sort if your sickness is solely pregnancy related x
