Essential medicine baby bits

So I'm needing to buy the medicine baby bits I.e like cotton wool, sudocreme ect.
I dont want to go mad with things I may not need.

I know every supermarket has bits I can get just like that but just want to get a few of the bits I'll definitely need before.

Has anyone got any good advice on what's essential?

Selection of anti colic measures: Infacol, Dentinox etc.
Snufflebabe
Calpol plug in when old enough
Calpol and Nurofen for when old enough
Metanium to keep to hand in case of nappy rash
Baby moisturiser
Soft cloths - MUCH better than cotton wool

In ear thermometer, sudocrem, baby nail scissors, wipes. Anything else, I'd wait and see (can't use eg Calpol for a few months anyway).

A lot of the colic stuff is recommended by midwives etc but has little research to support its effectiveness - do your own reading and decide. You might not have a colic-y baby in any case.

Don't bother with cotton wool..it sticks to everything. Plenty of muslins, wipes and nappies though. I used to nibble nails of firstborn, they're so soft and diddy fingers with scissors...don't bother with big tub of Sudocreme, get the tiny ones and get a couple and keep them in various places. The rest....wait and see. Oh yes to thermometer.

Braun thermoscan was recommended by GP friend as a thermometer that gets used in the nhs. There's loads of models - I'd choose according to budget.

Thanks everyone. I have a thermometer so sorted for that.
I will wait regarding colic bits and will look at some calpol ect down the line :)

I bought 2 tubes of metanium and my son never got nappy rash!

Unless you're anticipating not being able to get out the house for a long time I'd just hold off and see if you think you need any medicines, whenever my baby was poorly when he was little I'd just go and get it as and when, or ask someone to go out for me.

We did use sudocrem in the very early days but that's probably it, and just wet cotton wool pads for wiping bums early on also.

Honestly, unless you live rurally, i'm not sure that you need loads of stuff in. Just get it as and when.

Baby calpol, sudocrem and Snuffle baby is the only thing we have felt the need to have in all the time and DS is 2.5 yo. We've got a forehead thermometer from Aldi which is great. We have never needed infacol etc. I think we might have had a cough mixture at one point.

Didn’t use cotton wool at all.

Invest in a good thermometer- it has saved us lots of trips to the GP!

Sudocrem is good after the rotavirus vaccine when they are pooing constantly 😩

Nail clippers!!
