Dating Scan

Our dating scan on the 17th February and although I am excited, I am just SO nervous. We had a private scan which put us at 7+2 on 15th January and we saw the little flutter heartbeat. Just want everything to be ok.

Anyone else have their scan coming up?

I have mine booked for the 28th and I am so so nervous! Terrified something is going to go wrong so I can totally empathise with you. I think I'll feel anxious up until the point I can feel the kicks and wriggles.

@Lunafloves - me too, me too. just wish we could have a little peek inside and see what was happening! i keep trying to reassure myself but then i keep convincing myself that im just being too positive.

have you had an early private scan at all?

I have my scan on Wednesday and I'm very nervous as in my last pregnancy I miscarried four days before my scan. I haven't had any early scans but so far nothing has gone wrong so I'm really hoping that's a good sign. Good luck to everyone else waiting for their scans, I had no idea how stressful pregnancy is!

@fh27 - so sorry to hear that, how awful. do you have any children at the moment or is this your 1st?

no news is good news as they say, and like you i am hoping that no signs of anything going wrong, means just that!

im sure we will be fine and just worrying over nothing, just that waiting game!

I had my dating scan on Friday - I was absolutely terrified after two miscarriages last year, even though I’d had two private scans this time and both looked good. Just remind yourself that getting this far with no signs or symptoms that anything is amiss means that the odds are overwhelmingly in your favour that everything will be absolutely fine. As soon as we saw the heartbeat on Friday I started to enjoy the scan - it was amazing to see our little baby wriggling around and waving to us, I couldn’t believe how much more baby like and active it is now compared to when we last saw it at 9 weeks. Just magical. Just try and take deep breaths and enjoy the scan when you get there!

thanks @mable88 - thats such a lovely story of your scan and makes puts my mind at ease slightly . so happy that everything was as it should be, especially with your awful time last year.

do you hear the heartbeat at the dating scan? im not too sure if i should expect sound or not when we go, not sure if i should be listening out for anything?!

trying to keep a positive mind and wish this next week away!

how far along are you? whens your due date?

We didn’t hear the heartbeat but could see it clearly in the screen (after the lady pointed it out - I had an initial panic when I couldn’t see it but it turns out I was looking in the wrong place! ) I was actually bumped forward a day, I thought I was 12+1 based on LMP and previous scans but after measuring me I was put at 12+2 and given an EDD of August 19th - clearly baby has been busy doing lots of growing since our last scan!

hahaha, that's funny! well.. funny looking back on it afterwards, definitely not at the time!

ive heard that the dates from early scans can be a little inaccurate due to our little peas being so small. based on my lmp i am due 26th august but my early scan put me back 5 days, so im guessing 31st august currently! dicing with them being one of the youngest at school or one of the oldest!

Hi ladies, I am due my dating scan on Thursday and I am a nervous wreck, I had a MMC in June so I'm petrified it will happen again, especially as my symptoms have been very minimal. Saw a healthy peanut with a heartbeat at 8+2 but 4 weeks is such a long time to wait isn't it. I'm hoping we will be able to make our announcement on Valentine's Day ❤️ good luck to you all, hopefully we can get eachother through the wait!

@SpimblesDimbles I've had 2 scans - one which we paid for privately and one with an EPU due to a suspected miscarriage. I'm dreading our next scan but also excited to see baby looking more baby like!

@BabyB19 - sorry to hear of your news last year. did you learn of your mmc at the 12 week scan or did you know beforehand? i agree, the wait between early scans and this one is awful, only a few more sleeps to go before the wait is over. we shall be each others support network! my other half doesn't understand the worry that im feeling so really hard to talk to him about it.

@Lunafloves - how long before your next scan? it will be so lovely to see our little peanuts looking like little people!

has anyone felt their symptoms ease up? im sure my sickness isnt as bad and im convinced my boobs arent as sore. i am around 11 weeks tomorrow so not too sure if thats normal?!

I had a scan at 7+6 weeks, and another at 10+2 and I have my 12 week NHS scan on Thursday and I’m ever so nervous ! Even though everything was perfect at the other two private scans ! It’s my first and it’s been such a roller coaster !
I’m 11 weeks +1 and feeling great pregnancy wise , no symptoms anymore ! Just full of cold 😒

@SpimblesDimbles yes I found out at the 12 weeks scan and that was after an early private scan where everything was ok too so not much to be done to put my mind at rest until Thursday really! You always expect pregnancy to be a wonderful time don't you and the reality is it's terrifying! How are you getting along otherwise? My symptoms have eased right off too now. Xx

@itsemily - i wish i had booked another scan, half tempted to go for one this wednesday just so i know what happening but with my dating scan being next monday, im not sure its worth it. this is my first as well, so have absolutely nothing to compare it to and know if things are normal or anything? is your scan in the morning or afternoon? glad your feeling well! i have also had a cold! not great not being able to take anything for it is it, but we shall power through!

@BabyB19 - oh how awful, so sorry to hesr so. i shall be thinking of you on thursday and keeping all crossed for you! 100% you think its going to be all fun and games but the reality is just terrifying. other than the worry, im ok! my appetite is picking up again.

glad im not alone in the symptoms game! good to know its normal for things to be easing!

@SpimblesDimbles Mine is on the 28th 😊 I also know what you mean about loss of symptoms. I go through phases of feeling totally not pregnant and it worries me senseless but then I find myself crying at the smallest things and think ah! There we are

@lunafloves - not too far away but far enough when youre worried isnt it. hahah, oh god the crying gets me! i was binge watching some of the new supermarket sweep the other week with rylan and the contestants won the £3,000 prize at the end, i was just bawling! haha xx

You could go for an early one but at the same time I know what you mean . The only reason I went for the 12 week one was because I’ve been in hospital with sepsis and I was worried about baby but it’s absolutely fine bless it !
The scan is at 9:10am so I don’t have to wait around all day thankfully! And I work in the hospital so not got to travel either , it’s just up the corridor ! Lol x

@Simblesdimbles yes this will be my first child.

Symptom wise I'm still quite nauseous and I'm sick most mornings but for a few weeks I was being sick throughout the day too although this has stopped now. My boobs are also a lot bigger and firmer which is nice, hoping they stay that way!

The one thing that is worrying me slightly is that I have no sign of a bump yet, is anyone else the same? I'm quite small anyway and some people have said that that means it's likely I won't get that big but not sure how true that is. I'm usually bloated after dinner but then in the morning I look the same as I did before being pregnant.

@itsemily - i booked another one last night for this wednesday evening! its only £40 which is more than worth it to put my mind at ease, haha. sepsis - oh my lord, how scary! even when youre not pregnant. are you ok now? our little peas are more robust at life than we think aren't they . ah wonderful, no waiting for the hours to pass by. only three sleeps to go now! do you live in england?

@fh27 - being sick just in the morning is much better than being sick all day. have you had to tell a lot of people sooner due to your sickness or have you managed to hide it? im with you on the boob front! mine arent too much bigger but definitely feel more full. im the same with the bump, i bloat really easily but again look the same in the mornings. i am also on the slim side and have heard the same about not getting too big. i spoke to my best friend whos a midwife about if she thought i had a bump.. she said no! little peanuts are still so tiny currently and thats why we need to drink lots of water pre-scan, to push them up. so dont worry about the bump :)

Hey @SpimblesDimbles everything was fine yesterday, I was surprised to find out I'm actually 15weeks!, It was nice as they could see quite a bit more with the baby being a bit further ahead. I've been feeling pretty rubbish this week as I have a cold and I'm being sick again. Not sure if I'm being sick again because I'm not well or because it was gonna come back anyway. Hope everyone else gets on well with their scans! X

@SpimblesDimbles - oh my goodness! thats really amiss with your dates isnt it! how lovely though :). glad all went well and you got some good photographs! are you planning on finding out if youre having a boy or a girl? i know exactly what you mean, my sickness eased and then i got a cold and then my sickness came back - i put it down to the cold though! still feeling pretty ok sickness wise after the cold has eased. hope you are feeling better soon!
