Morning!! Currently just over 12 weeks. Managed until yesterday having only been sick once, main symptoms being tiredness and aching boobs.
Yesterday I was sick ALOT and retching when i wasnt, was light headed/dizzy lost my balance and almost fell down the stairs!! Feel the same today and like I've had a headache for 2 or 3 days.
Had to leave work yesterday and phone in sick today.

Should I call midwife/maternity line or will they think I'm overreacting and this is all normal?
Any help appreciated ! X

Ring now, unfortunately normal but you don’t have to live with it. Also make a GP appt, they can give you antisickness tablets and sign you off work.

Call the midwife today and she'll tell you what to do, either see her or call the GP.

Posted too soon.

In the mean time, try and stay hydrated. If you are so sick and nauseous that you become dehydrated (dark wee or not weeing) then go to a&e. I couldn’t keep food or water down, but I could manage ice cubes and lemon ice lollies.

Does your employer know you are pregnant? If not, tell them. They must (by law) record pregnancy related sick leave seperately to ordinary sickleave and cannot use it against you. They also need to do a pregnancy risk assessment.

Sickness Support has lots of useful, practical, medical and legal advice.

I hope this passes for you. Pregnancy sickness is hideous. You may also want to look up “hyperemisis gravidarum”.

IME the midwife will just give you some hints and tips, but ultimately tell you to call your GP. They will also give you some 'safety net' advice and tell you when you'll need to come into hospital for the sickness to be managed.

I had fairly bad sickness in the 1st trimester and a bit of the 2nd trimester. I was off work at least once every 2 weeks or so with it. It wasnt managed through the midwife at all though. I let her know at my appointments with her, but she wasnt too concerned
