Ondansetron and cyclizine for hyperemesis

Hi,

I’ve been taking Ondansetron for about 3 weeks and although it’s helped I’m still really struggling. Today I have been prescribed cyclizine to take alongside it. I’m a bit nervous because I tried it early on (before I tried ondansetron) and it made me feel really drowsy. I’ve been advised to give it ago for at least 3 days and the doctor was confident I’d see a noticeable improvement. (Fingers crossed!)

Can anyone advise how best to take the 2 please? Do you take them together or space them out throughout the day?

Thanks in advance.

I found alternating them best. Would take ondansetron then 4 hrs later cyclizine. I was prescribed both 3 times a day and set alarms to wake me in the night.

I was on both for Hyperemesis (you have my deepest sympathy, bloody awful) and Cyclizine made me actually fall asleep every time I took it for a couple of days and then I got used to it. Still made me a bit drowsy for probably a week or so but then no side effects. I did the same as above alternating so I was taking something every 4 hours. Hope it passes soon for you

I also took both, also very drowsy! It was ac to ally intravenous cyclizine that worked best for me, as an inpatient. But was extremely “trippy”. Big hugs, HG is hideous.

I was on Cyclizine, at first I was super drowsy but after a few weeks of taking it I my system got used to it so I wasn't as drowsy from it.

Hi Op,

I'm on the same as you but 3 cyclizine and 2 ondansetron, I take cyclizine at 7:30am 1pm and 9pm and then ondansetron at 11am and 5pm I find this works really well for me, I was quite tired early on but now coming up to 30 weeks and apart from back ache ect feeling really good. Stick with it and find what works with you. Thanks
