Hi everyone. The title says it all. I had chicken pox when I was younger but obviously worried as I am pregnant! Waiting for a call back from my midwife but does anyone have any advice?!! I'm SO worried!!

I'm also a single mum so it's not as easy as just staying away :(

If you had chicken pox, the baby you are carrying is protected by your anti bodies, so there should be no problem. No one was even in the slightest bit concerned when I was pregnant and DS had chicken pox - in fact, we were all just pleased he got it b before DD arrived!

It’s fine because you have already had chicken pox. It’s only dangerous if you have never had it before.

Thank you so much! My mum assured me that I definitely had them as she caught them off me 🙈
Bless him the poor thing. He had tonsillitis 2 weeks ago, ear infection last week and now this! 😩

My daughter had chicken pox while I’ve been pregnant this time.. I wasn’t worried as I’ve had but I called the midwife just to be sure. And yep, so long as you’ve had it, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Carry on as normal! It’ll just a boring 5/6 days while you are housebound, I nearly lost my mind. 😂

It must be pretty common amongst those having second babies with other children aged 0-5!

Thank you! Oh god I bet that was stressful for you, but glad you're ok!
I had chicken pox when I was little and my mom caught them from me. She's now found some red spots in her face and I'm so worried! I have everything crossed I don't catch it again!!

Most importantly my lb is happy and well today, just lots of new spots 🙈 I think he felt the worst before the spots came out!

I was 24 weeks when my son had a really severe outbreak of chicken pox. I hadn't had it as a child so my doctor sent me for an immunity test and all was fine it definitely put my mind at rest knowing I wouldn't break out in them though. If you phone your GP they can arrange it for you and the results come back super quick

They can check your immunity. If your mum remembers you having it and caught it herself then you should have immunity. In my experience the people who’ve had it twice had a very mild, barely noticeable case first time (eg my friend’s daughter had 4 spots and no fever, GP said it was definitely chicken pox but the following year she had a more severe case). I don’t know if that’s always the case though.

Aww thank you both. I have a soar throat and ears so I will just have to see how the next day or so pan out. My on was coping so well but last night was the worst night he's ever had. Up until 3, ended up in my bed, tossing and turning and unsettled now :( it's horrible being so helpless!
