Hey! So my waters just broke and now I can't sleep. Contractions are here but very mild. Just wondered if anyone else was awake

Hi OP are you at home? Waters went with both my pregnancies and when I contacted the ward they wanted me to come in to get checked.
I found having a bath helped with the contractions or sitting on the birthing ball.
Good luck if your anything like me you will be cuddling your newborn by tea time at the latest.

You should call labour ward if your waters have broken.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/02/2020 05:39

How far along are you?
Agree you need to call them

ln2793 · 06/02/2020 05:42

I'm awake! Definitely ring the labour ward and they'll advise you of what to do next. You normally progress much quicker at home- baths and hot water bottles are a help in the early stages. Good luck :) !

How exciting! I can’t sleep (insomnia but only just in my 2nd trimester). No helpful advice but just wanted to say good luck, I hope you get to hold your baby very soon Smile

CCW86 · 06/02/2020 06:18

I am at home. I have had mild contractions but nothing regular yet. Having read so much online, I figured I would wait a little while before calling in. If things don't speed up within the next few hours then I will call and see what they say. I read that only after 24 hrs do they usually induce or speed things up. Just trying to enjoy the calm before the storm

My waters broke and baby was out within an hour and she was my first, didn't even have bad contractions until ten mins before either. Get checked out, they can always send you home

fonxey · 06/02/2020 06:52

Mw told me to call them if my waters broke because there is a chance of infection, so i wouldn't wait. They might tell you not to come in, or send you home if they do but best to let them know.

CCW86 · 06/02/2020 13:12

Thanks for all your advice. I just wanted to update you. I went in to my birth centre and they checked me over. Bloods, Heart Beat and all other tests seemed normal so they have sent me home until either contractions get more regular, or they will ring me in the evening to induce me. Now the waiting game really does begin... The end is in sight!

Just back at the hospital as I was worried baby wasn’t moving as much as usual but unfortunately still waiting for him to make an appearance. Apparently despite his swimming pool disappearing this morning he still isn’t ready to come out. I’m hoping I don’t need an induction but that may be on the cards if he doesn’t hurry up

^ Ditto 🙂

MapMySleighRide · 07/02/2020 04:22

Aw best of luck! Just to point out my waters went first on all my labours and I was told not to have a bath because of potential infection, showers are fine tho.

I did have to be induced with my first 29 hours after my waters went. Hopefully you have since gone into labour naturally

daffodilrosedaisy · 07/02/2020 08:59

Thinking of you OP!!

Thinking of you @CCW86 and very much hoping you're cuddling your baby now (or at least lots closer to it!)

CCW86 · 07/02/2020 17:37

Thanks for all your support everyone. Ended up having a C section as bb really did not want to come out. But me and bb are both happy and healthy so I guess that as all that matters
