Is flu in pregnancy dangerous? Have I even got flu?

Hello all I’m going to call my gp in the morning but just looking for some advice.
Was fine all of yesterday, got to the end of tidying up after dinner and having a hoover round and all of a sudden I started feeling really achey and run down and had that feeling when your throat sort of feels swollen.
Been tossing and turning all night tonight and I’ve just had to actually run to the toilet to be sick, didn’t make it and was sick on the floor. I’m feeling quite cold shivery and warm too and I’m genuinely questioning if I can even manage the school run tomorrow. I’ve also got lower back cramp.
I’m 23 weeks pregnant. Can this be dangerous? Do I need to see a doctor ASAP? Only had flu as a child so I’m not really sure if there even is treatment?
Thank you!

Have you had a flu shot since becoming pregnant? Not sure if it’s flu but I would see a doctor?

I think it is the temperature from flu that has a small risk of complications. Make sure you monitor yours and if necessary take paraceramol.

Call 111

Echoing pp, keep your temp down if possible with paracetamol and call 111/gp when they open. Flowers

This is how I started on Thursday night , turned out to be tonsillitis that turned septic . I was really poorly on the ward and my temp was sky high but I was shivering . Could be flu or could be a bad infection . Mine definitely felt like Flu but it wasn’t , they checked me for it and I also did have my flu vaccine . I hope you’re ok and have managed to speak to the Dr . It’s horrible especially being sick xx

Ive just been off work for 2 weeks with tonsillitis and a chest infection. Its started pretty much the same as you described.

Im 33 weeks pregnant, have been taking extra notice of the babies movements. All seems to be fine.

I did go to my Dr's who gave me antibiotics.

Id make an appointment to see your GP, you dont know what it is or if antibiotics will help. May as well get checked.

@Letsallscreamatthesistene you sound like me , mine turned into a chest infection too and I’m on Amoxicillin. I was planning on going back to work tomorrow but I’m really not sure ! Still got a cough and feel run down . Baby is ok here too, had a scan to check and they said babies are very resilient!

Thanks for your replies - I’ve just peeled myself out of bed. My son has stayed home from nursery today because I couldn’t get out on the school run. The most painful is my back but my whole body aches. I’m not snotty and don’t have a cough at the moment and I had my tonsils out years ago so it wouldn’t be that.
