Has anyone been extremely stressed and it’s been ok?

I am 10 weeks, and for the past few days I have been so stressed, I was being threatened with legal action. I’ve just been lying in bed or sat down the whole time, crying, ringing people non stop, googling the issue, and all in all being depressed and desperate. The issue has, as if by magic, gone today. My stomach is still in knots. But is my little one ok? I had a scan at 9+5, the day after this drama started, it all looked fine. Can a baby survive this amount of cortisol flowing around?

Yes it can, please don't worry. Stress like this can't harm your baby, but do relax and get your endorphins flowing. Take a warm bath (not hot), do some deep breathing, and get an early night 💐

I'm sure you and your baby will be fine :)

In my first pregnancy DH and I almost split up, we made the decision to give up our jobs and moved 200 miles after lots of tears and stressing because of a difficult family situation. DS is now a teenager and has no related issues.

I too had stress throughout my pregnancy. Unexpected pregnancy, had to reschedule my wedding (was originally meant to be due week), was self-employed but couldn't work because I was soooo sick so financially stressed, found out we were having twins but pregnancy was very high risk meaning constant scans & appointments, got married at 25 weeks, found out at 26 weeks my twins had developed a condition that threatened both their lives, spent a week in hospital, horrible procedures like an amniocentesis to remove 2 litres of fluid from around one baby, went into labour at 27 weeks and they were born by emergency c-section. They are both fine, aged 7 now! And have totally different personalities so I'm pretty sure all the stress can't have made much impact on them.

I had horrendous panic attacks during the 1st trimester when pregnant with my daughter, hardly ate or slept for weeks. Had to take diazepam to calm me down and my pregnancy was totally fine ! I think your body knows how to protect your baby 😊 x
