Maternity allowance application timescale

Have just sent off my maternity allowance application form. Confirmed receipt by DWP who have sent generic message stating will hear from them within 8 weeks and not to contact them. However I’ve certainly seen threads on here suggesting it’s taking far longer than that! Anyone applied recently and got a sense of how long it might be?

Unfortunately my employer mucked me about with required evidence so I’ve essentially applied at 40 weeks pregnant. Luckily I will have occupational mat pay to cover me but just wondering when I might start seeing the maternity allowance!

Will you get maternity allowance if you are getting occupational maternity pay?

Yes-it’s am irritating loophole for some junior doctors due to rotating posts in a training program. Although I have continuous nhs employment which is what occupational pay is assessed on my employing trust changed during my pregnancy so I don’t qualify for SMP.

When I sent my application off I had confirmation it was received 30th December and would take 10 weeks to process. I got my letter with what I will get etc on the 23rd of January so only took like 3 weeks to come through for me.

Applied 2 weeks ago and few days after sending my form I got the text that it might take up to 8 weeks.
I'm self employed and checked beforehand that I have enough NI for the full rate. I guess they will be on time with payments.

I work for the nhs and changed jobs mid pregnancy. Payroll have told me that I have to apply to my old trust for SMP. The old trust are ignoring me. I get the feeling no one knows what the process should be and I’m caught in the middle.

I got confirmation a few weeks ago. It took 4 weeks so not too bad at all.

I’m a JD and got the text within a couple of weeks of sending in to say will take 8 weeks and it took 8 weeks 😊 they’ve sent me the form that needs to be returned when baby born.

The process is fairly clear-I get the feeling nhs payroll however are masters at pretending they cannot navigate it Hmm. My hr department sent me the wrong evidence multiple times (after weeks of completely ignoring my requests at all).
