Hi,

I'm 36 weeks, first pregnancy. My hips have been a bit niggly since about Christmas but not causing me any problems. However over the weekend they seem to have got a lot worse. I've got pain around and across my hips when I stand and walk but it is particularly bad at night, especially when I try to turn over and is stopping me sleeping. Reading about PGP, the symptoms sound similar. But could this be normal due to baby dropping lower and my pelvis getting ready for giving birth?

Im seeing my midwife in a couple of days but wonder what other peoples experiences are? Do most people get pelvis/Hip pain in the last few weeks? Can PGP start quite late? What did you do about it?

Thanks

Hi, mine started around 33 weeks, though like yours was a little niggly before that. Got so bad I could barely walk. Going upstairs, even getting up from the sofa and turning over in bed were so painful. It helped to use a wheat bag and have warm baths. The thing though that massively helped me was seeing an osteopath specialising in PGP. Literally within a couple of days of 1st appointment I was walking more normally and feeling so much better. It’s now back to niggly rather than intolerable. Still get the pain turning over in bed but feels more manageable.
