Second pregnancy symptoms - reassurance needed

Hi all,

I’m 7+4 with a very much wanted second baby. When I was pregnant with DD, she wasn’t planned so I wasn’t tracking anything.

Other than the occasional wave of nausea in the morning, I haven’t been feeling sick at all. With DD, I remember feeling sick all the time time at the beginning. I couldn’t eat because of it but I was never actually sick.

Has anyone else had different symptoms with different pregnancies? I’m worried something isn’t right. Sad I have a scan on Friday but I’m really starting to feel anxious about it all.

Hi @00Bubbles00 I can understand you are feeling anxious. I was pregnant in November and sadly had a miscarriage. I am now 6 weeks pregnant and have to say I've felt totally different this time! My boobs hurt from before the pregnancy test last time but they only just got sore in the last 2 days but much sorer and almost hot!!! I've had some nausea this time whereas none before. I've also had lots of cramps and pulling sensations in tummy, again nothing like that before. Oh and more discharge this time 🤔I'm seeing all of this as positive!! I've read lots about no two pregnancies being the same. Try not to worry and enjoy your scan this week ☺️I've just booked a private scan for 19th when I'll be 8 weeks xx

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to tell myself that I’ve not got cramping and there’s been no bleeding so I shouldn’t be worrying but I am.

Oh I honestly know the feeling. I had some bleeding the Sunday before last and as you can imagine it freaked me out but all seems fine. I spoke to EPU today as they told me to ring back after a week if test still positive and they don't seem concerned, so I'm trying to see that as a good thing and take every day as it comes 😊xx

That must have been worrying for you. I don’t think I’m going to stop worrying until I can feel a baby moving about. 🤞 I get to that stage.

I didn’t worry at all with DD. I had a chemical in January last year and that really knocked me. I’m convinced something is going to go wrong this time.

I keep trying to tell myself that, because I’m taking vitamins and eating properly even when I’m not hungry, that’s the reason for my lack of sickness.

My pregnancies have all been different. DD was easy, no sickness, nothing. I had spd towards the end. Pregnancy 2, I knew something was right, had alot of bleeding. that ended in mc at 12 weeks.

DS a whole different ball game, I was exhausted, huge, spd really early on so struggled to walk without alot of pain, a few days of nausea and actually being sick. Generally felt hideous lol (he was a big boy 10lb 3oz!).

Now I'm 7 weeks pregnant again, feel ok so far just tired. Will be interesting to see if depending if it's a boy or girl if the symptoms are similar.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/02/2020 07:39

That’s reassuring Snoopy28x

My two pregnancies have been very different; my sickness with my first didn’t hit until later whereas my second was earlier and the way it effected me was quite different. I wouldn’t read too much into feeling different this time

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/02/2020 16:34

Thank you user1493413286. I’ve just got to get to Friday, then I’ll know either way.

I was sick every day from 6 weeks to birth of my first. I'm 35 weeks pregnant with my second and have barely felt sick at all.

All of these replies are really making me feel better. Thank you all!

This is why I love Mumsnet.

DD1 I was sick all day every day, but absolutely no aches or pains otherwise

DD2 absolutely bugger all symptoms, no nausea, sore boobs, nothing at all.

DTs no symptoms whatsover until 33 weeks and then my boobs felt like they were on fire for the remaining 5 weeks.

thethirdbar · 04/02/2020 17:57

I'm in my first pregnancy so I have no direct experience but my mum said all three of her pregnancies were totally different and all resulted in perfectly excellent children (though the middle one (me) was more excellent Wink ) .

My best friend is one of two and again, her mum had completely different pregnancy experiences with both of them.

And I've often seen posts to that effect - no two pregnancies are the same, I think it's totally normal.

I understand your anxiety though - wishing you a happy and reassuring scan on Friday.

First baby (girl) I had really bad morning sickness from quite early on until 16 weeks, second baby (boy) I only had a few waves of nausea. I had an early scan with my second pregnancy for reassurance as it didn't feel right that I had so little symptoms!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/02/2020 19:14

Seems that I’m not all that unusual. Maybe I’m having a boy this time...

Hey, my second pregnancy was completely
Different to my first and both are girls! First I was a little sick and went off food...this one I'm reallllyyyyy sick and still being sick at 21 weeks, bad heartburn, tummy cramps, low mood and absolutely drained! Every pregnancy different so go easy on yourself and try not too worry! Providing you've had no serious symptoms of bleeding or pain then I'd say your
Doing just fine! :) x

Thank you all for your reassurances. I had my scan today and all is looking good and I’m measuring at 7+4.
