Congratulations cards - AIBU?

Light hearted topic and welcoming of thoughts.

So today, I went to visit my gran and she was showing me a stack of cards her friend has left with her for her to open when baby is born. They're not for us, but congratulations cards for her for being a great gran, my mum for becoming a gran and also my 18 year old brother for being an uncle!

Feel free to tell me I'm being unreasonable (!) but is this not just the world gone a bit OTT as I really don't see why people who, although yes, family, need cards to be congratulated when he's our baby and I've been the one carrying him/will birth him? I did try and raise this point but was told if my gran hadn't had my mum then this baby wouldn't be a possibility 🤔

Card companies see profit opportunity everywhere. Hope you have bought baby a card to congratulate it on being a niece/nephew etc etc
