I am so tired - what is wrong with me?!

I'm 28+5 weeks and I am exhausted. Not like a bit tired but physically and mentally exhausted all of the time. I sleep from around 11 - 11am the next morning, and then I am tired all day, with a headache, feeling like I'm going to pass out. If I leave the house and I'm sat down I feel like I'm going to fall asleep, I constantly feel like I need to lie down and sleep. For the past few days I've also been getting dizzy when walking around. As I type this my eyes are sore even though I only woke up at 11.30,

I've tried waking up earlier but that just makes me even more tired, and I'll need to nap around 3pm. I could honestly sleep for days and not wake up.

I've been off work due to fatigue, I'm a writer and my quality of work is rubbish right now.

I've had my iron checked and it's quite low, but not worryingly so. I take tablets and I've also had iron infusions but it hasn't done anything. I also have gestational diabetes but I'm managing my blood sugar levels with diet right now and everything seems to be fine apart from the odd one from cereal (who knew rice krispies were so bad?!)

What could be going on? I don't feel like this is just pregnancy tired, it's taking over every single day :(

Perhaps you need to ask the GP for more extensive blood tests.

I second asking the GP for more blood tests. You could have something like a B12 deficiency. I have it (from pre-pregnancy) and it makes me very tired. Apparently your baby takes a lot of B12 so if you were borderline before you might now be deficient. Worth checking all your levels with more blood tests

Defo go see ur doctor and ask for a full set of bloods to check everything. The iron deficiency and gestational diabetes isnt helping and you will exhausted with both. Around xmas i was feeling the same and sleeping the same amount (minus headaches). I had very low iron. I have SOME energy and am managing to take less naps during the day but i have given up and learnt to listen to my body and if i need rest then i just sleep. I know its hard but try going for a 5 to 10 min walK when u feel up to it. It will help just dont push urself. Growing a baby is hard work.
