Hi All,

I had bleeding at the time of my period and have already had two miscarriages so I went to the GP who referred me into EPU.

I had a scan and they said I have two sacs but they're on the smaller side. They took my blood and said my first round of HCG was high. I'm now waiting for the results of my second HCG test tomorrow and am going to have another scan tomorrow as I'm off to Thailand for 2 months next week!!

Does anyone have an success stories with this type of situation? I don't know how I will cope with another loss and the wait is insane...

The bleeding was slightly more than spotting for about three days around the time when my period should have been so could have been implanting?

I'm no doctor and I'm sure your scan tomorrow will reassure you more, but nothing seems alarming to me. I know that private scans actively won't scan you until 6-7 weeks because you're unlikely to see much, so I suppose it would be the same with a hospital scan @ 5 weeks. You can kind of just see something is there at that point but not much else which is normal I suppose. Smile on another note, I thought my implantation bleed was a normal period so I didn't actually find out til 8 wks because it wasn't the pink stringy stuff I'd seen so many describe. So yours may have been implantation too. Fingers crossed for you!

Fingers crossed for you!

I would do a scan while abroad thou, as it looks you're carrying twins at the moment. To see two sacs at 5 weeks is good. Often at 5 weeks you won't be able to see anything. High HCG can also indicate good outcome so far, it means baby are well implanted and your body does its job.

@eandz13 - thank you for your support! No way re your implantation - that's insane!!! I thought I was 5 weeks and 3 days and they said my sacs should be bigger at this stage so God only knows what they can see and my cycles vary from 28 - 36 days. The EPU have been with me through the last two miscarriages so everyone is hoping this time is the success! I am going out of my mind with worry though...

@R2D2abc - Is that true you're unlikely to see anything at five weeks? Then that makes me happy! Yes, I think I could be carrying twins which makes me very very happy but has started off the symptoms much earlier than the first two pregnancies.

The EPU were being very cautious with me and almost telling me to expect the worst... The waiting and not knowing, on top of past trauma is the worst. As well as packing up my house and getting ready to go travelling!

Yes, if I get that far, I will have scans in Thailand. I've been looking up the best hospitals 😀

Thank you both so much. I'm just so anxious!
