After having 3 miscarriages very close together we are finally getting our rainbow baby and I'm 22 weeks. I wanted our baby to have a meaningful name, this is something that's really important to me. I did some searching online and 'iris' is apparently Greek for rainbow but my partner isn't keen. I then thought of hope which I absolutely adore, what do you ladies think? 🌈🤰🏼👶🌈

I know an iris and think it's a beautiful name

FernBritanica · 01/02/2020 11:53

Lovely name

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 01/02/2020 11:54

I think they’re both beautiful, classic names which won’t date and have a lovely meaning.

JacquesHammer · 01/02/2020 11:55

Iris is gorgeous but increasingly popular (not sure if that bothers you!)

Iris Hope would be a lovely name.

Congratulations!

Iris is a beautiful name. Alternatively you could go for a name like Hope or Faith. You could also do a colour name to stick with the rainbow theme like Scarlett or Violet. Congratulations.

Ah go give your belly a rub from us OP. Congratulations 🌈

Jacqueshammer, the popularity would put me off to be honest, during our first pregnancy 18 months ago I loved Olivia but the popularity deterred me whereas u rarely hear of hope (except on silent witness last week!)

There's a Hope on Coronation Street too Smile

geojojo · 01/02/2020 12:10

I love them both. Slightly prefer Hope I think although I do know of a few baby Hopes and they were all born after their parents suffered infertility or loss and so I do sort of assume that when I hear of one.

Lazydaisydaydream · 01/02/2020 12:14

Both of those names are beautiful, and I haven't heard any of them locally to me at any baby groups.

Congratulations on your rainbow baby! When we had our rainbow boy we chose a name which means strong because that is how we felt he was, it really suits him Flowers

CeeceeBloomingdale · 01/02/2020 12:16

Love it

Halloweenbabyy · 01/02/2020 12:25

I love iris not a fan of hope though.

Absolutely beautiful name (both of them), for a beautiful Rainbow baby. I’m so happy for you both ! Another name which is beautiful is Esme, my friend called her baby Esme as she was a miracle baby and it has a meaning of “beloved,” which encompasses both your rainbow baby and your endless love . Shay is also another name with similar meaning !

rainbow1982 · 01/02/2020 16:13

It'semily omg wane is beautiful!! I love it! Me thinks Hope Esme it is!! 👍🥰🥰🌈👶

I think both names are beautiful.

My cousin had a rainbow baby and named her 'Boe'

GaaaaarlicBread · 01/02/2020 16:21

@rainbow1982 I’m honoured I could’ve been of some help, what a beautiful name combo I love it ! My friends little girl is such a beautiful gift and the name just fits Her perfectly , she’s Esme Grace which I think is also gorgeous and I don’t know any others ! I’m so happy for you 💕💕💕
