Gaining weight too fast - any experience?

I'm 17 weeks pregnant. I started pregnancy at 67kg and I am now 74kg.

I eat when I'm hungry or nauseous (nausea goes away when I eat for some reason) and this in addition to 2 proper meals a day. I never ate this much so I'm not surprised I'm fattening up.

Is it safe to try and not increase weight for the next few weeks (by lowering food intake) until I get back in-line with expected weight gain? (I should only have gained 3kg by now and my weight gain is more in-line with the 26 weeks mark)?

Thanks!

Don't worry! Both my pregnancies I've gained a lot of weight in the first trimester but gone on to have little of average weight gain. I just think those first few weeks get you hungry!
In my second pregnancy I gained all my pregnancy weight by 20 weeks. Didn't put a pound on after that!

I don't know but I'm the same! Eating for England as it's the only thing that quells the nausea. "Luckily" the midwife lost the record of my booking in weight so I haven't been told off Hmm

How do you feel about extra exercise like walking/cycling? I felt that sucking on hardboiled sweets really helped with my nausea and they last longer.

Thanks all.

I had bleeding in early pregnancy, got scared and did good nothing since. Limiting any movement (as if that could help).

I have just started a once-a-week prenatal pilates class but it is not much movement, just a bit of very mild exercises.

I could add a bit of walking given that my job is at a desk for 12 hours.

Never heard of hard-boiled sweets, will look into that.

I think I am now only meant to increase 300g a week instead of 500g, to get back on track. Uffff

@lalla525 this is my issue each time im pregnant. First pregnancy and second pregnancy I put on over 20 kgs. I dont know exactly because I was so annoyed that i stopped weighing myself, both times. The second time i promised myself I'd be more careful but the result was the same. I think my body just puts on weigh the moment I get pregnant even if i eat healthy and keep exercising. So this time, I don't want to worry about it too much.

My mum put on 25kg with me and developed high blood pressure and something else which sounds bad. She is freaking me out and she weighs me 😂.

I do eat too much tbh, so will try and reduce. But I am literally constantly starving or nauseous and in both cases I need to eat!

I'd be more worried about your mum weighing you tbh. How is it any of her business?

Lalla525 · 01/02/2020 13:40

Ha - true. I'm kind of used to it though as she has always been like that. Used to bother me when I was younger but now appreciate is just genuine concern after her experience.

I feel your pain OP - I seem to be gaining about an lb a day at the moment, it's quite alarming! I don't think I'm eating much more than usual either!
