I had the test for downs syndrome carried out at my 12 week scan (now 17 weeks) if the results had been positive/I was high risk would the hospital have phoned me? I missed my routine midwife appointment at 16 weeks, I was sent another appointment and on the letter, in bold, writing it says: 'Please note you will be seen by a consultant or a member of his team'. I have never seen this on any other appointment letter I have recieved and this is my 4th pregnancy. Now I can't get out my head that there is something wrong with the baby. Do they write this on all appointment letters and I just haven't noticed? Would they have contacted me before now if they knew or suspected something was wrong?

When I had my Down syndrome testing they said they would phone if anything was wrong. I would like to think they would have contacted you before now to tell you.

If you was high risk then they would have rang you withing 3 days. I'm under the consultant for various reasons so you could be seeing him for a number of things was your last baby big/small did you have a c section or an assisted delivery or diabetic they could be numerous reasons I was high risk at 12 weeks was told straight after the scan my nt was high and was advised it was highly likely results would be high risk they rang me 2 days later saying I had a 1:25 chance so I would say if it was your results they would have rang you

Because you missed your 16 week appointment they could have just put you with another staff member. Chances are you won't actually see the consultant that's why they put a member of his team. They have to tell you who you will be seeing incase you oppose to it maybe and request a female etc.

Thanks for all your replies, has put my.mind at ease a but.

They did say they would phone if anything was wrong and as far as I know they haven't phoned or left me a voicemail.

Last baby was 8lb 13oz, natural delivery.
