Bleeding at 6+2

This is my second pregnancy, and I didn't have any early bleeding at all in my first pregnancy, so this is new to me.

I had some minor spotting this morning, then nothing, and then when I went to the loo this afternoon it was heavier, browny-red, like a light period.

I've spoken to the maternity helpline, and their advice is to monitor for now as it's not heavy and I don't have pain. The midwife said to go to a & e if that changes, and mentioned an early scan at the epu if it persists.

If I do need to go in, can they actually do anything proactive at this stage, or is it a case of monitoring / reactive management?

@Peeeas Hi there congratulations on your pregnancy! I also experienced this from 6 weeks and still am at 14 weeks! I too have not received much advice from mw apart from it’s common in early pregnancy and can be a result of implantation bleeding or the changes in your uterus. I was very worried as I’m sure you are too. I went a&e and got an early scan just to check everything out. They did tell me there wasn’t anything they could do if things weren’t progressing the way they should (which is the last thing you want to hear) however I found the scan slightly relieving and wanted to know either way. As I mentioned I’m still spotting light pink and brown most days, I’ve had 4 scans now and thankful to say baby is healthy. They still haven’t given me any reason to why I’m spotting. I had a slightly heavy bright red bleed at 11 weeks which happened after sex but again everything was fine. I really don’t know why it happens but they say just see how it goes and if you experience any pains similar or stronger than period pains go straight to a&e or if you experience any bright red heavy or gushing bleeding.

Hope this helps and wishing you have a very healthy pregnancy xxxxx

Ps. Don’t hesitate to go and get a check if you’re worried lots of people do x
