TMI/Photo warning - 8+3 with brown/blackish discharge

Hi all, apologies for the photo - am waiting to hear back from my midwife but thought I would see if anyone has ever experienced this in the meantime.

I'm 8 weeks + 3 days and have woken up this morning to brown discharge, which I know can be normal but it's more the particular colour that's worrying me? I had some cramps during the night and they are still there this morning... I'm off work sick with a horrible sore throat/headache/cold so am currently lying on the sofa feeling very sorry for myself.

The discharge isn't heavy and there doesn't seem to be anything further on wiping this morning, but just a bit concerned about the colour combined with the cramping. We had an early scan on Sunday which showed the baby in the right place (so definitely not ectopic) with a heartbeat.

Any ideas, should I be worried?

Thanks in advance

I'd say there's a fair chance that that's old blood and nothing to worry about, BUT I'd also phone EPU if I were you. I know in a similar situation they told me to come in.

@Fantababy thanks for the reply, I'm hoping it's old blood too but the cramps coinciding with it is making me feel a bit anxious! I haven't had anything further so will monitor today then get in touch with EPU this afternoon if it carries on I think!

I've had this exact same issue a few days back and all was well. My thread is a few pages back now but will try and tag you, it's called "is this a misscarriage" (bad spelling sorry haha) but you might find it helpful xx

@ashleigh3119 Thank you, have had a read through yours and so glad to hear it was good news. After not having anything mlsr of the day, I've now been to the loo and had some pinkish red blood on wiping so am worried again! Spoke to my midwife and the EPU and going to monitor and wait it out. Keeping everything crossed!

Hope all ok, OP. Thanks

No further bleeding, a few occasions yesterday of pink when wiping. But nothing on my pad overnight at all and almost nothing when wiping today. I'm waiting for a call back from the GP this morning to see if they can refer for a scan at EPU just for peace of mind. Trying not to be too hopeful but fingers crossed it could be nothing scary?

I’ve had three bleeds in my current pregnancy. 1st was at 8 weeks which was bright red blood, 2nd at 10 weeks brown discharge and spotting and a 3rd at 15 weeks which was a mixture of blood and fluid.

Was scanned every time and there was a happy bouncy baby wriggling away :) I’m now 22+5 weeks with a happy baby boy kicking me as I type.

I know it’s easily said but try not to worry...bleeds are fairly common xxx
