Might be silly - Can I get my roots done?

Hi everyone. I'm early days 6 weeks pregnant with blonde hair. I have an appointment to get my roots done tomorrow evening. Is this risky in the first trimester? Or am I being silly?

I had my roots done around that time and currently 37+5. You can always check the products with your hairdresser but the amount of chemicals in the dye is pretty low. There is some advice on the NHS website

Yep unless you plan on eating the dye or injecting it then it won't get near baby - that's what my hairdresser told me🤣

I had mine done last weekend at 5 weeks. I intend to do it as infrequently as possible during pregnancy but looked a state....

I found this article useful americanpregnancy.org/is-it-safe/hair-treatments-during-pregnancy/

Hair products are safer now than they were 40 years ago. The NHS web site will tell you that there's no evidence that it's harmful but some people wait until the second trimester to be on the safe side, which I found a bit unhelpful. We would know by now if there was any link to problems for the baby.

You do need to tell the hairdresser, though. If you haven't had that dye before, they may need to do a patch test.
