I’m 40+3 today and had midwife appointment, she did a sweep after I declined one a week ago. Although when she did it she said she couldn’t reach the top of the cervix so she didn’t do a sweep of the membranes but she massaged the cervix to try and encourage something to happen....I bled for a bit afterwards and was uncomfortable at the time but on the whole not that bad! She is going to do another one on Friday!

Just wondering if anyone else has experience of having an unsuccessful sweep??? Thanks!

I had 2 sweeps with my DS & 3 with my DD. My 1st one with DS was exactly like yours. I had another one 3 days later, had it at 5pm, had him the next day at 7:44am!

I know it's hard and you just want to rest but try and keep active, will help your cervix gravitate down (from what I was told) so if you are to have another sweep she can hopefully give you a good one!

Also don't stress if she doesn't say you're dilated at all. People can go from 1-10 in a matter of hours xx

@tryingtobeablogger thank you for commenting!! I went for a good 45 minute walk after having the sweep today and have been on my ball for most of the afternoon so fingers crossed it’s doing something!! Going to make sure I go for a walk every day now too! Xx

Hi,
39 weeks today. Had a cervical sweep yesterday I think the MW couldn't reach to the mouth of the cervix either. But i am getting impatient... had tummy and back ache around 13:00 today but that got better in an hour... so i suppose it was BH. Waiting...still having spotting though.

40+6 today. Had one last Thursday (40) and one yesterday (40+5). Zero effect, so far as I can tell!! @tryingtobeablogger You're right about wanting to rest but needing to remain active! I've managed a 45 minute or so walk the past two days, but good lord it's difficult! Best of luck to you all, ladies.

Ok so have had 2nd sweep today and she managed to do a sweep, said she could feel baby’s head. It was very uncomfortable so think she did a proper job! She also said I was 1 cm dilated so hoping the thorough sweep today will trigger something in the next couple of days! Been another big walk this afternoon! X
