HELP!!!! Please!!! Could i be pregnant????

My baby is only a few months old and i'm SERIOUSLY worried i'm pregnent.

I was due yesterday but no show yet so this morning i brought a very cheap 99p job from alsave test. I peed on it but got it wet above the line of lavel but it was two lines (positive) so is that a real reading or wrong cos i wet too high???

I then did the 4 day early test that says if it's day 1 of AF being due you can do it anytime of the day so i did it about 4 hours after first test (when i next needed a wee basically) and it came back negative!!

Should i believe the first one (cheapo) or the second (bloomin expensive) one???

I will do another tomorrow am but i can't get it out of my head TBH so wondered really what everyone thought about the result of the first one?? could it be wrong cos i weed to high or as it was positive result i must be prggas as it must have picked up the pregga hormone??

HELP!!

I had BAD pregnancies previously and been advised not to have anymore basically

I would trust the expensive one, as weeing on the heap ones strip would be a plausable explanation for a wrong result. Did you check the expensive ones result thouroughly? Was there ANY sign of a positive? Even a faint line is a line. I wouldnt worry too much. Is there no late night garage you could get your partner to run to for you and buy another one?

anonlady · 31/08/2007 22:47

deffo no line on expensive one at all but i thought even if there is a line it must have picked up the hormone to get it. i thgought they coould only be false the other way round (Read neg but actually be pos IUSWIM

It is more common to get a false negative than a false positive. False negs are quite common in the early days. Give it a few days and take another test, or go to your gp.

mumzyof2 · 31/08/2007 22:50

I think that may only count if the test hasnt been wee'd all over. When done properly, tests are pretty reliable, im not sure the price matters. Do you feel any different?

anonlady · 31/08/2007 22:54

no no different. just i'm never late ever but i've only had one period since my baby so i could take a while to get regular i guess.

Check out this website. Loads of info on tests, including false positives

I was always led to believe that a pg test no matter how cheap couldnt give a positive reading incorrectly as you have to have the pg hormone present in your pee to get a positive test. I cant see how peeing above the guided line can harm it??? I may be soooooooo wrong!!!

anonlady · 31/08/2007 23:01

thats what i was told too by docs on last baby but lets hope not hey!!! [very scared emotion]

didsnbump · 31/08/2007 23:06

I hope im wrong, my fingers are crossed for ya!

mumzyof2 · 31/08/2007 23:07

please dont worry, bear in mind that the test wasnt done properly, and therefore it doesnt count. Tomorroew id buy a digital one, that you can do 4 days early, then you know for sure, and it will be in words, right in front of you.

anonlady · 31/08/2007 23:10

will do. Thanks guys.

how much sleep do you think i'll get tonight now?? I've got another test to do in the morning with my first 'strong' wee!! and we'll see what that says!!

mumzyof2 · 31/08/2007 23:13

You'll be fine, im sure, besides, everthing happens for a reason - a HUGE cliche, i know, but its true. try to sleep and let us all know in the morning what the test said.

jazzyred · 31/08/2007 23:29

The first test I took was £3.88 for 2 a tescos home make. I weed to high on the first one and I had a void result that was in the morning I took the next one in the evening and made sure I done it properly by dipping the stick in a pot of my urine and it went Positive straight away. So basically trust the second one if you done it right, as the first was probably void.

nappyaddict · 31/08/2007 23:47

i did a cheapo test which i wet to high a couple of months back. everyone said the reading would still be correct and it was.

the expensive ones don't always work. my friend did one those digital ones that came up negative. she took it apart and there were 2 lines. one was very faint so it had not made the test read positive.

ProjectIcarusinhercar · 31/08/2007 23:49

wee in a cup and dip it in the morning.

madamez · 31/08/2007 23:54

Erm , if you have a new baby, have you actually ahd time to have sex? Without contraception?

anonlady · 01/09/2007 21:12

phew, morning test said negative!!! but still no AF. Is that quite normal to not be back to a regular cycle post pregnancy??

Thanks for support last night guys

fortunecookie · 01/09/2007 21:26

Wow! That was a nail-biter. Thank goodness it was neg. Yes, it's totally normal to have an irregular cycle post partum.

frazzledbutcalm · 01/09/2007 21:32

Dnt want to worry or dis hearten you but do another test if few days if still no show. i had 2 negatives before i got a positive one with baby no4. VERY normal not to have regular cycle after birth, althought i've always been like clockwork!! I'd also seriously consider contraception if you really cant risk another pregnancy. (not judging, just trying to help)
