Hi guys
Just want to know if I'm alone in this or if this is normal...I'm 5 week pregnant and my anxiety it THROUGH THE ROOF. I can't stop worrying about things that arent even happening and imagining random horrible scenarios and worrying about my loved ones. Nothing has happened to trigger it. I used to get like this waaay back as a teenager when I had monster periods but I feel like it's back! Is this common or would this be a non pregnancy related issue?

It's really common to become anxious in pregnancy, especially in the first parts because it seems like not a lot is happening and you may be keeping it secret. It's also one of the things that you're so involved in but can't really control!

It may be down to hormones, especially if you had it around periods?
Best advice is to stay away from Google and try and focus on doing things you enjoy to keep busy. If there's someone close you can reach out to for support to discuss your worries too, that can help. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy

Anxiety in pregnancy is totally normal. Try and relax and enjoy being pregnant 😊 I am mummy to 1 year old twins and I worry every day think it’s a build in mummy thing from the moment you find out you are pregnant.

I have a history of anxiety and panic attacks and I've noticed now I'm around week 6 I'm getting the flutters of anxiety in my chest. Things I find that help:

Meditation
A good relaxing bath or shower
Writing in a diary. The one I use focuses on things like what I'm grateful for today, what was great about today etc.
Talking to friends family and on forums
Music or movies
Going for a walk

I had this with my last pregnancy and with my current one - constant anxiety that something bad will happen. I know a lot of people who've had it, it's definitely common! There's not much you can do, it does wear off and I'd totally forgotten about it with my first until about 5 months into my second pregnancy!

I was quite anxious about the pregnancy - but not anxious about other things (like my loved ones). I think it is very normal to be worried about whether everything will be okay with the baby and being a mum. I think it may be less 'normal' to be massively anxious about everything, and it also sounds like you are having intrusive thoughts. The hormones are pretty intense in the early weeks, so that might be causing it. But at the same time, please don't just struggle on. I know it's early days, but you can speak to your GP or midwife (if you have got a booking appointment booked in) if it's getting in the way of day to day life.

Please don’t worry this was exactly me. I was convinced I was going to lose baby or die it was awful. 15 weeks now and the scans were perfectly fine and I can feel baby!! I actually had hourly panic attacks it was so bad. I feel your pain x

Thanks for your responses guys. I'm not anxious about the baby but just randomly worrying about family members and being convinced something bad has happened Sad
There was a lot going on prior to me getting pregnant- illnesses, work stuff, deaths. And now I cant shake the feeling something awful is happening and I dont know about it. I'll call my mum and my sister a few times a day to make sure they're okay. It's getting silly...I'll speak to my GP.
