Elective c section first baby

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had an elective c section with their first baby that was not due to medical reasons? How difficult was it to convince them to let you have one?

I don't really want to go into much detail but I had a very traumatic miscarriage with complications (nothing bad enough that would mean I couldn't do natural labour though) and it's caused severe panic attacks at the thought of labour - so I suppose there's MH reasons why I want one but nothing actually 'physically wrong' with me to have one if that makes sense? I will be speaking to my midwife about it next week but I'm abit nervous.

(I have thought a lot about this, I know the pros and cons of both and I know this is exactly what I want, it's just attempting to get one now)

Hello
It sounds like you would qualify on MH grounds.

I had a breech baby, but one of the Doctor’s really, really, desperately Confusedwanted to turn her.
I listened to other medical staff and Doctor’s who said no. Anyway I got my C section wish (would’ve done it the normal way if not breech) but the Doc was very huffy with me!

In contrast my cousin who had two children very easily, just wanted a C sec for her third, was allocated a date without any bother at all. She then went into labour early and had a pain free birth Hmm she said!

Just state your reasons and stick to your guns. Good luck with your pregnancy Smile and relax!
