After 2 miscarriages at 6&7 weeks, I'm pregnant again! It's very exciting but very nerve wracking all at the same time.
I had an early scan with my second pregnancy but they did an internal scan (shortly after I miscarried) and it's put me off of that.

What are everyone's opinions of having an early scan? I'm really debating having one at 7 weeks for this pregnancy. I just can't decide if I want to do it or not.

I had a missed mc at 7 weeks and the two pregnancies I had after that I paid for early scans for both (they were both healthy full term pregnancies in the end too).
For me, the peace of mind was worth it and even if it had been bad news, at least I’d have known (nhs wouldn’t scam me early).

Wait for 8 weeks then they will get a good clear look at the baby without having to go internal.
If it reassures you, then do it. It can't hurt.

Hi, with my last miscarriage my gp sent me for an early scan and I was 7+3 weeks all was well... but then they asked me to come back a week later to reach because of shape of uterus all was well dating 8+3... little did I know I lost in that day and didnt know until my 12 week scan. Now I have been petrified at having an early scan but really anxious at same time, only have another 2 weeks now can say I'm getting really nervous x

I went for a private early scan at 7 weeks as I had a miscarriage last year. They did an external one and managed to get a really clear picture, even saw and heard the heartbeat! Definitely worth it for me as it really put my mind at rest. Good luck!

Thank you all for your opinions! I've just booked an early scan for 7+5 so hopefully they can see something without doing an internal scan. I think you're all right with saying that it may give me peace of mind. I'm so anxious to see this little one but I'm so worried that it'll go wrong again. I think I'm definitely put off of internal scans so I won't be agreeing to that this early, even if it means that we can't see it that clearly I guess.

I had mine at 7+6 and it wasn’t an internal one . It was a very clear picture and a strong flicker of a heart beat! Got another one when I’m 10 weeks +3 on Monday . Can’t wait to see the change but also so anxious that something may have happened . Even though I’ve been fine ! I think the scan will help you xx

After recurrent miscarriages, I had 5 early scans by the time I was 8 weeks. 3 NHS and 2 private.

It was reassuring to see babies heartbeat and growth until the last one last week, when baby had stopped growing and there was no heartbeat.

In hindsight, in future I will opt out of early scans unless NHS ordered because I feel the extra scans have bought me extra heartbreak as we had so much hope and I now have so many pictures that I look at constantly and ask myself where it all went wrong yet again.

Early scans are just a snapshot in time and anything can happen in the minutes/hours/days between your next one and I feel they made me more anxious in the long run, counting down days until the next one.

I really hope your pregnancy goes well and wish you all the best ❤️
