Could I be pregnant?

Hello! I created a discussion on this at the beginning of January when I originally missed my period. It was supposed to come on the 3rd but never did. It is currently 23 days late. I haven't had any symptoms that my period normally comes with. I haven't had many symptoms of pregnancy either, other than the fact that I feel nauseous every once in a while (it was pretty bad for almost 2 weeks but it's calmed down), and I'm exhausted all the time. I've also been having pretty bad mood swings and have gained a couple pounds in the last month. I tested negative on the 10th and 11th of this month. It has now been 2 weeks and 2 days since then and my period still hasn't come.

Have you tested since the original test?

YakkityYakYakYak · 26/01/2020 20:41

You could be. Only one way to find out - test again!

Runkle · 26/01/2020 20:46

So why not test again?

carly2803 · 26/01/2020 20:48

test again?!

Update: I tested with 3 cheap tests this morning and they all came back negative, my period is now 25 days late and I'm going to miss another period in less than a week... What should I do?

I'd speak to your GP. I didn't have a period for 6 months once for some random reason and wasn't pregnant. Also missed a period last year for no reason. The GP said it's not abnormal to miss one every now and again. But they did blood tests anyway to check, and nothing came back. Been pregnant twice with no problems.

You can occasionally have a cycle where you don’t ovulate and therefore miss a period. See what happens next week, if you miss a second one go and see your gp and have bloods done.

Go to your GP

Update: I was supposed to get another period yesterday but it has still yet to come. I'm only 17 and don't know if I should tell my mom what has been going on, I don't want her to get mad for no reason.

Does your mum know that you are sexually active? If yes, just tell her that you know you're not pregnant, but that your worried because you've missed two periods. If not, you could make an appointment to see the doctor or nurse.

Hi Apricity, there are lots of reasons to miss a period aside from pregnancy. Book a visit with your GP - they’ll ask questions to find out the likely cause and probably take some blood tests.

Your mum doesn’t need to know anything about the appointment unless you want to tell her, but with 3 negative pregnancy tests you’re unlikely to be pregnant. Don’t just keep waiting and asking the internet what it could be - we don’t know without blood tests (and I’m a doctor in real life!) Put your mind at ease and get a GP appointment. Nothing to be embarrassed about, they’ve seen and heard it all before, I promise!

My periods went funny a couple of years ago and it was because of a hormone imbalance. It sorted itself out without any medication or treatment, but it put my mind at ease to know the cause. I’m also pregnant now, so no impact on my fertility!

Last update: I figured I would do one last update incase anyone in a similar situation comes across this thread one day. I ended up being pregnant but am now having a miscarriage at 9weeks and 5 days. I'm only 17 should I should probably see it as a blessing that I can continue my life as normal. I didn't know what I was planning to do yet, but I'm honestly feeling so devastated and numb right now. Good luck to anyone else out there who might be in a situation like mine. And I'm so sorry to anyone else who is going through what I'm going through right now.
