Bump and baby club antenatal Classes Vs Nct?

Hi does anyone have any experience of bump and baby club ante natal classes? I’ve seen there’s a branch near me but can’t find many reviews online. I like their ethos and the idea of “less preachy” than nct. But the course is shorter so wondering if you get as much out of it. Thanks

Hi there,

I'm currently in the midst of bump and baby but we're at an out of London area one. The group wasn't fully signed up to and so far there hasn't been any push for the social element of it which is a shame.
Content wise it has been fine, I don't think it's too dissimilar to NCT from what I have compared to friends. I picked this over nct due to wanting a less 'preachy' approach and It definitely hasn't felt preachy and feels like a supportive environment. My only issue is that it isn't a very full group which is a shame. We're considering to do NCT in addition due to this reason.
I think the London ones may be more busy/larger groups perhaps although that's just a guess.

Hope this is helpful

Thanks, that is helpful. Out of interest, how many couples are on your course?

Anyone else have any experience?

I’ve just got back from NCT. Despite public opinion, it wasn’t preachy in the slightest. Gave lots of balanced info and plenty of chance to discuss pros and cons of everything.

We have four other couples with us -that may be the norm? Not sure

MaisieMolly · 26/01/2020 16:17

Website says 10 couples max for bump and baby club.

I've been to both (long sorry. I won't go into) and in my opinion bump and baby is so so much better. It's much more structured which I personally prefer and I've learnt way more in it than I did at NCT but I think we had a poor NCT instructor. Bump also has a baby first aid class which you wouldn't get at NCT and I don't feel like they've missed anything to have that.

Thanks @beth821, that’s interesting to hear. Was one in particular more sociable than the other or both similar? I’d like to learn but also meet some other mums to be.

Both classes everyone was sociable. Everyone who goes, goes for friends mainly. We met up independently during the course at bump and the also have a social Gail's tea for you to get to know each other better. With NCT we only met up after but you'll meet people to hang out with whichever you choose

I’ve signed up for Bump & Baby Club, starting in four weeks time. The classes where I am (London) all sold out very quickly so I’m expecting mine to be full. The first aid session was definitely one of the pluses for me as it’s something I know absolutely nothing about!
