Afternoon Ladies!

I'm 16+3 and went today privately to have my gender scan. I've had put in my head since day one that we'll be having a boy, today at the scan we got told we'd be having a little girl. We're very much in shock because all we've been convinced by people is it's a girl 🤣. We're happy and we didn't mind the gender as long as they were heathy. The only thing that's on my mind was that it took a while for the sonographer to figure out the gender and I had to cough a few times to get her to budge! Me and oh could have sworn we saw a little penis in the photos but the sonographer saw the three lines for a burger for a girl. I've attached the scans and the photos we thought were a boy. Is it the placenta that we saw? I feel awlful questioning it and we are happy but would be happy to hear your thoughts?

I wouldn't trust it, personally. There was a lady on here the other day who had three successive scans tell her it was a girl and then found out it was a boy. She then had to return all the stuff she'd bought. Moral of the story- buy neutral.

I remember the thread mentioned above. It put me off the idea of ever having a gender scan

It does look girly. Do be careful though - I was told girl at 20w scan but boy at a scan I needed a couple of weeks later and he was a boy! So I think they can miss things!

I don't really know. But my friend was told a girl and later found out a boy. The second pic, the thing between its legs is somethj g else as it starts mid way rather then in its crotch

I think its great you'll get a second opinion at the anomaly scan at 20 weeks. If two different sonographers come up with the same sex then its likely correct.

But yes, second to PP, never trust it as they sometimes can be wrong. For my baby, ive bought a load of colourful clothes that will do for either sex, and decorated the nursery with forest animals. Not particularly sex/gender orientated so im safe if the baby turns out to be a girl and not a boy!

It looks like a girl to me.

But with girls I would want a confirmation later on also as sometimes you can miss a boys parts if it's too early and not in the best position.

I have 3 boys so usually you can see they're boys really clear. Saw it at 16 weeks also but at an NHS scan.

Looks like my girl at 16 weeks.

Thanks for all your replies!

I think I'll be cautious and get neutral colours just incase but hopefully if at the 20 week scan they say girl too then it's more then likely going to be a girl. I think it's the initial shock but one of those photos did confuse me!
