26 weeks pregnant - anyone else? How are you feeling?

I’m 26+1 today. I’ve been feeling baby movements but they’re quite sporadic. I have a noticeable bump now and am feeling a lot less tired and sick than I was. One random side effect is that I am needing to wee more than usual!

I’m looking forward to getting to 28 weeks as it’ll be the next milestone, in that I’ll be in the third and final trimester - woop!

On the other hand I’ve not even started buying any baby stuff - all I have are lots of clothes that people have given me that need sorting and washing. I also have a million DIY tasks I’m hoping to get done around the house and garden before the baby arrives.

I haven’t had any time to really think about the birth either or do any research on the various options, like hypnobirthing, water birth, whether to have an epidural. I really need to start looking into all that! I’ll be starting antenatal classes in four weeks time, so that’s something.

Is anyone else around the 26 weeks mark? How are you feeling?

I'm also 26+1 today!
My baby movements have also been sporadic. My bump is very clear now too. My needing to pee only seems to be when he kicks low down. Apart from the odd bit of heartburn, insomnia and tiredness I feel completely normal! Feeling very lucky as a lot have it much worse. I put it down to how fit I am as I went to the gym 6 days a week before pregnancy and ate very well.

I also cant wait until 28 weeks, the home stretch lol! I'm counting down the weeks until maternity leave! When are you planning on going on?

I've brought a lot of baby stuff but still have loads to get. Still debating whether I need a breast pump or not even though I'm going to breastfeed. We also have so much DIY to do, shelves ect to put up. I'm booking something in every weekend until baby is here lol.

I really want a water birth but havent read too much about it. I have a hypnobirthing book to read but havent even started that yet lol 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm also starting NCT classes in around 4 weeks, bit nervous about it but hoping it eases my worries on a few things!

I'm getting excited to meet our little man now, do you know what your having? X

tacosplease · 25/01/2020 10:36

Congratulations @ejmay90! Yes, I found out that I'm having a girl Smile

I'm also feeling lucky not to be suffering from heartburn or other major side effects (yet!) I am waking up during the night, but only once - and I wasn't a great sleeper before I was pregnant anyway.

I was recommended The Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill on another thread so might order that soon and give it a read.

I have so much to do before the birth but am feeling so excited and impatient to meet my baby at the same time!

@tacosplease Awww congratulations on your little girl!
I'm only waking up once too which isnt bad at all. Actually sleeping really well but I'm sure it won't last long lol.

Ohh cool! I've heard of that one but thought I'd try the one I've been given first.

Me too! I like to be super organized which is why I'm trying to do it now before I get so big I can't Haha! 😂

I'm 28 weeks and have bought nothing for the baby and done zero birth prep. Whoops.

I would definitely recommend doing any physical DIY type jobs asap though as they are only going to get harder from here on in. I've had an easy pregnancy up until now, no real symptoms except some heartburn and have still been very active including walking at least 5 miles a day. However, in the last few days baby seems to have shifted and now I'm suddenly struggling. I don't have a very big bump at all, but I'm struggling with bending, sitting in certain positions and am now tiring easily. It feels like I've got a heavy boulder inside me and I just can't get comfortable. Hoping it doesn't stay this way until the end.

tacosplease · 26/01/2020 19:55

and have still been very active including walking at least 5 miles a day.

That’s so good @squee123 - I have a sedentary office job and am worried I’m not getting enough exercise. I’ve put on just over a stone since my BFP!

Thanks for the warning about the DIY. I really do need to crack on, but work has been so busy recently that it’s been hard to find the time!

Also, I can’t believe there’s only 13 weeks and 5 days to go now. It doesn’t sound like much!

I feel your pain, I have a very sedentary office job too which makes it hard to fit in exercise but I've got into the habit over the years of walking everywhere I can. Anything under half an hour I will always walk and I do things like get off a stop early and walk the rest of the way. I also try to take at least 15 mins at lunch even if it is just a walk around the shops. I fear my resolve is going to start slipping as I become more uncomfortable though! Although my midwife's encouragement that it will make labour easier is keeping me going so far.

It's weird, I've got 12 weeks to go and it feels like no time at all and an age away all at once.

I am 26 weeks and 4. I have had a really tough pregnany combined with anaemia and low vit d. I am not as sick as i used to be but i have good days and super bad days. I wss super active before pregnancy but have had to listen to my body and give up during most of my pregnancy so far. I am getting some energy back so i cook and walk as much as i can at the moment. Sleeping is the worse and the worse the sleep is... the more sick i am during the day. I cant believe i have only 13 odd weeks left. I have done a lot of prepp for bubs but still seems to be soo much too do before due date. Bump has been showig since 16 weeks and i now feel huge but have been told my growth is below national average so now have to go for growth scans as well

Aisah · 27/01/2020 01:08

So i feel fat... some days super tired and cant get out of bed and all i want to do is bite into garlic bread but know i cant because the indigestion/acid and sickness isnt worth it

avocadont · 27/01/2020 01:14

Yes! 26 weeks today. Incredibly tired, counting down the days until I go on maternity leave (middle of Feb), feel like a whale, her kicks are getting really strong now.

I've barely bought anything, I got quite a few clothes for her for Christmas but I've not sorted through it all and put it away yet. Everyone has told me not to buy this and that because they've got one I can have (which is great but I've not managed to bring the things to my home yet so I'm trying not to panic too much about not having them sorted).

I joined quite a few facebook groups today for people due around the same time so I'm hoping that sense of community will be helpful for me.

sparkeigh · 27/01/2020 01:17

I'm 26+6 days and having a hell of a time with the entire pregnancy unfortunately, with reactive hypoglycemia, still getting constant sickness every other day and even had a bout of food poisoning...had a private scan on Saturday and the sonographer pulled me aside once my mum and partner were out the room and advised me to contact my maternity Triage as she had 3 x absent EDF readings during the scan...my wee one is running on the small side due to me having a gastric bypass a few years ago also so having to eat every hour, was admitted to hospital on saturday and got let out yesterday and now need to have a scan twice a week and been put on a course of steroid injections (2 of) as she may need to be taken out early so its just a measure of precaution to ensure her lungs have a better chance to develop better...this is my first successful pregnancy (had 3 early MC's over the years)

Definetly don't think i could go through this again! wishing you all the best and having a better experience than i am!

ejmay90 · 27/01/2020 09:36

Anyone really hating their job and counting down the days till they leave?
I'm currently going on maternity leave at 38 weeks which is 12 weeks away!!

When is everyone else going on mat leave?

Caspianberg · 27/01/2020 09:46

26+5 today.
Have been feeling ok in general. But have now got a def bump and exercise wears me out. Im usually a 10,000+ step a day person who barely sits down between breakfast and dinner, but have had to start resting and pacing myself more.

Will be officially on maternity from 32 weeks, as here you have to take 8 weeks before and after as minimum.

I didn't have anything really, until a panic last weekend where I ordered all large items like pram, car seat and cot in one afternoon. Waiting on delivery this week on bits that haven't yet arrived. Accessories and random bits, clothing etc I still need to look at. Planning a trip to closest city end of next month maybe before im woddling around too much.

That’s exactly how I feel!

26+4 today! Also waiting to get to next milestone of 28 weeks! January has dragged on forever!! Last day at work is 3 April, I actually can’t wait!

I’m starting to feel extremely tired again like in the first trimester. Also baby keeps wedging herself under my ribs and it really hurts. Have a heavy feeling in my stomach now which I think is just baby now she’s bigger.

I keep craving sweet stuff which is not like pre pregnant me - am letting myself indulge a bit!

Also I’m absolutely terrified of the birth and can’t bring myself to read anything about it! I start NCT end of feb so sure I’ll learn stuff then but I’m scared

ejmay90 · 29/01/2020 20:56

@sunshine8888 congratulations 😊

Im now 26+5 and definitely think hitting milestones keeps me sane and not constantly thinking about finishing work 😂

3rd April isnt long away! So are you going on around 36 weeks?
I was trying to get to 38 but think I may bring it forward a week as I hate my job!

I'm definitely feeling tired again and have that heavy sensation but only occasionally.
Definitely not felt baby wedge himself anywhere, should I be? Lol. Although he seems to be pressing on my bladder instead lol.

Oh I love chocolate I always have, but I'm also letting myself indulge (more) during pregnancy but also trying to eat healthy as pre pregnancy I was very healthy!

I have a hypnobirthing book to read but havent got round to it yet 🤦🏻‍♀️ my nct also start at end of feb!

Sunshine8888 · 29/01/2020 21:45

@ejmay90 I’m using up annual leave first so not actually starting maternity until I’m 38 weeks but will finish at 36 - I can’t wait to start sorting the house and nursery!
