12 Week Scan!

So im 11weeks pregnant nearly and still hadnt recieved my dating scan, anyways my midwife chased it up and gave a date over the phone (for a week and a half away) but said they couldnt do the follow up appointment straight after (apprently what they normally do) so that is booked for 6 days later. Im just confused whats a follow up appointment after the scan? Is this normal? Dont remember this in my last pregnancy. X

Not sure if it normal, I didn't have one and I am classed as high risk and seem to be having appointments with everyone constantly but not a follow up from the 12 week scan. I did have a 16 week appointment so maybe in your area they do this a bit earlier?

Does she mean the bloods that are taken for the downs Etc test??? That’s done straight after the scan at my hospital

Thank you she diddnt seem concerned about anything, she said they cant offer both appointments on the same day and it was normal to discuss the scan afterwords but they had to arrange it for the following week. X

No ive said no to any other tests x

I wouldn't worry about it, I would have loved an appointment to discuss the 12 week scan! My philosophy is to go to any appointment offered, can't hurt. It might just be that your NHS trust does different to mine and other peoples. Ofcourse it might be a mistake (Ive had that where I was booked two scans in the same week by different doctors) but if it is they will let you know beforehand.

Okay thank you, im going to wait and see what the letter says when i recieve it. If not i will ask them when i go for the 12week scan. Thank you x
