Im 9wks+4 and woke up last night to bleeding

I had a scan on friday which showed baby was fine but there was also a empty sac.

Im a bit worried that me and dp being physical might have brought it on. It wasnt so much blood as it was a discharge which i can only presume is the blood mixed in with the ermmm.........semen??.......(tmi really sorry) well when i got up i went to the toilet another little bit came out but i havent had alot at all since and all i do get now is discharge with the slightest colour to it....

I have never experienced bleeding in pg before so if anyone can help me i would be so grateful. My dp seems to think its the collapsed sac coming away as ive had no cramps or clots etc but somehow im not convinced sorry to ramble on and thanks for reading xx

I posted on the march thread i like, but it could be that you passed the sac last night.

iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:14

Some people just do have bleeding in pg. If you haven't had cramps or clots, then you might well be okay. Also, someone else posted about bleeding after sex and a few people said it could be cervical erosion - no idea what that is, but hopefully someone else will be able to expand...

If you're really worried, call your EPU and see if you can get another scan to see what is going on...

beansprout · 31/08/2007 13:15

Can you ring your GP/midwife?

What do you mean "physical"? That you had a fight or that you had sex?

helenelisabeth · 31/08/2007 13:18

I would ring EPU and see if they can do another scan to put your mind at rest. I hope all is okay and I would not think that you have miscarried,

iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:20

hehe beansprout i dont mean to be sarcastic but were would the semen come from if we were fighting no we had sex , i have a doctors appointment at 3 so i suppose i will have to see whats happening. My main concern is that i DO NOT want anyone poking and prodding about "up there"

oh we do not have an EPU here, i asked the doctors when i rang them.

When I was in the first few weeks of pregnancy (6-8 weeks) I didn't know I was pregnant - I had had a few days of bleeding at about 4 weeks so thought it was a period, but turns out it was implantation bleeding) - ANYWAY, my point is whenever my DH and me had sex I would bleed the next morning. As I didn't know I was pregnant I was really worried and went to the GP and when I told her she said straight away "are you pregnant?" and I said "no" so she was going to refer me to a specialist. I found out a couple of days later that I was pregnant - I was having all the symptoms so I did the test! So my point is, from the GP's reaction I think that "post-coital bleeding" (as she called it) is quite normal in early pregnancy.

AuntJetPetunia · 31/08/2007 13:27

I should add that I went on to have a very healthy baby girl!

iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:28

really?? how heavy was the bleeding?? wow never thought i would ask that question

OP posts:
AuntJetPetunia · 31/08/2007 13:30

Well it was a couple of years ago now, but IIRC it was quite a bit. Fresh red blood. It didn't go on all day - just a bit in the morning.

Sorry, don't know what happened there!!! LOL!

iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:31

does cervical erosion harm the baby? sorry i am very clueless to all of this so have lots and lots of questions!! aLso can it just appear as this is my 4th pg

OP posts:
iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:32

that sounds like mine!! so many emotions

OP posts:
AuntJetPetunia · 31/08/2007 13:35

Ah - "cervical erosion" - that's what the doctor said I had when she examined me. I think it is quite common, and as far as I am aware, not a danger to the pregnancy.

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 13:41

Oh yes, it was me that posted about bleeding after sex. yes i was advised that it was prob cervical erosion. i am 22 weeks tho.

best thing is just to ask doc or mw to put your mind at rest.

iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:41

i hope it is that then!! or the collapsed sac coming away, reading my notes from the scan last friday it says everything is fine and where its supposed to be, except for the line that says...

echo poor area adjacent to sac measuring 30mmx20mm, collapsed second sac.

then it says no obvious adnexal masses or free pelvic fluid, normal appearances of an intrauterine pregnancy i have no idea what that means

OP posts:
AuntJetPetunia · 31/08/2007 13:41

I know - I was very emotional at the time as well - the hormones obviously don't help! Just go and get it checked out, it will put your mind at rest. Good luck

iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:42

dp you think i need to take my pg notes with me?

OP posts:
beansprout · 31/08/2007 13:42

It's just that you used the embarrassed face and I couldn't really understand why you would feel ashamed about having sex with your dp?!

AuntJetPetunia · 31/08/2007 13:43

Definitely take the notes!

iliketosleep · 31/08/2007 13:44

im not very open when it comes to talking about sex and semen, just typing i was blushing ill def take my notes then
