Hey all so this is my first pregnancy and my stomach seems to grow bigger and bigger each day, I have actually lost 8lbs since I found out and am a size 16 and 5'7. I have to wait another 3 weeks for my scan and I am excited and worried that I may be having twins but have heard it could be bloating...… how can I tell the difference as I do not feel bloated myself although I do have BAD wind as my DH says Grin and my eating habits haven't changed that much and trying to keep to healthy balanced meals.

I’m in the same boat, 10 weeks with my first and have a clearly defined bump. I don’t feel bloated (although horrendous has like you lol) but if I try to suck my stomach in it doesn’t really move and hurts a bit. I’ve already started to wear maternity jeans and loose tops because I can’t have anything touching it or else I feel really uncomfortable. I had an early scan which showed one baby so I guess it’s all the uterus... or fat Grin

I might get an early scan next week just to put my mind to rest as twins run in my nans side of the family and I'm just freaking myself out a lot. Could just be bloating and fat hahahaha at least I look pregnant and not just fat which is a plus Smile

Probably bloating. I looked 20 weeks at 12 weeks. I also had lost a lot of weight due to sickness so I found it a bit of a surprise to be so bloated! It will go down eventually (mine went by about 14 weeks) and then you’ll get your nice little baby bump! Good luck pregnancy!

FiveFarthings · 24/01/2020 12:28

Also twins at 10 weeks wouldn’t make too much of a difference to your bump as they would still be so tiny at 10 weeks!

MsChatterbox · 24/01/2020 12:53

I was exactly the same with both my pregnancies. Makes it very hard to hide! Lot of oversized jumpers worn. But it's definitely bloating!

I was like this with my 2nd.
High liquor volume and a Transverse lie.

Kanga83 · 24/01/2020 13:01

I was like this with both of mine- although I'm short I did end up having very large babies so in my case there just wasn't much space for them

It's just bloat. It's normal. It doesn't matter if it's multiples, they're still so small that it's not going to make a difference.

thanks all, I have had to tell work sooner than I would have liked as my office clothes aren't fitting me and been having awful sickness as well and thought it could be bloating as my sister mentioned it to me last week. It is all new to me and I am like how on earth have I got this bump already haha tbh I have been freaking out about almost anything at the moment

Apart from the bump have you put more weight on all over?

Nelbert19 · 24/01/2020 13:25

I’m 13 weeks and a bump has appeared in the past week or two! I’m surprised to see it so early. Still able to fit into my clothes though (which was v uncomfortable with the bloat!)

I did have terrible bloating from weeks 6-9, but that’s gone down now and a bump has popped up.

I’ve had hyperemesis so have lost half a stone, so maybe that’s made it more obvious?

fibeee · 24/01/2020 13:56

I think everyone is just different.

I by far had the biggest bump in my first 2 antenatal classes and started to notice other girls catching up with me around the third. Baby’s measurements are also very average though apparently they’ve long legs.

My friend got married at the end of her first trimester and was able to fit into a dress she bought before she was pregnant with no alterations. I wouldn’t have had any hope!

I've actually lost weight everywhere else it's just my stomach that has gotten bigger

It's 100 percent bloating.
This early the baby is so so small even if there was 2 it wouldn't make a difference.

When I was around 6 weeks my bloating was soo bad I couldn't get in my jeans.
It's normal.

London91 · 25/01/2020 13:29

I'm 9 weeks and I definitely have bloat and that's it. No sign of a bump here.
