Does anyone know which is worse please...
I’m 32 weeks and I’d really like to sleep🤞, but if I sleep on my left I get terrible heartburn even if propped up. Am I better to sleep on my right (apparently bad for blood flow) or my back while propped up ish (apparently associated with increased risks to baby. Any thoughts?

Right side is fine. Recent studies say so. I switch from one side to the other various times during night.
It's actually unhealthy to stay only on one side for all night.

Right side is fine, most of the studies showed no difference between left and right side.

I have been alternating between left, right and propped up through the night. My SPD makes staying in one position too painful. When I am propped up I pop a pillow under my legs to stop me from slipping down in my sleep.

NHS website says either side is fine, as does Tommy's

34 weeks here, I switch from left to right all night.

Jesskir89 · 24/01/2020 19:37

I have to switch from left to right. Lie on my right baby goes mad, lie on my left I wake up numb. Dh keeps waking me because I keep going on my back. It's tough

SnoozyLou · 24/01/2020 20:49

I slept on my right side as well as my left through my last pregnancy. I've never heard of that. I didn't sleep on my back towards the end and didn't find it comfortable anyway.

I'm no expert but I always thought that in terms of pregnant women sleeping it is this -
Left is viewed as the most ideal.
Right also completely fine.
Back a no-no from 16 weeks.
If in doubt ask your midwife.

Thanks folks. I think the last time I was pregnant the study advising against right sided sleeping, which has subsequently not been reproduced according to Tommy’s had only just come up. I remember working really hard to stay on my left. Nice to know right is an option too 😊
